IT Academic Technology Coordinator (aHEO) - SEEK

POSITION DETAILS

The Percy Ellis Sutton Search for Education, Elevation and Knowledge Program (SEEK) is a higher education opportunity program offered in the senior colleges of the City University of New York (CUNY), established to provide comprehensive academic support to assist capable students who otherwise might not be able to attend college due to their educational and financial circumstances. Students’ admittance into SEEK is regardless of age, sex, sexual orientation, race, disability, or creed.

The Percy Ellis Sutton SEEK Program at New York City College of Technology, located in downtown Brooklyn, provides a network of comprehensive programs and services to assist students in maximizing and enhancing their academic potential. During the academic year, the program serves over 900 students. Reporting to the SEEK Director, the IT Academic Technology Coordinator will work to expand academic support using current and emerging technologies in the SEEK Labs. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Assist students and the Academic Support Center staff with the use of technology as required.

  • Conduct workshops for students on the use of different online platforms used for academic work and assist with the promotion and use of online academic support.

  • Train center staff on various software used in both associate and baccalaureate level courses.

  • Regularly update academic technologies and platforms, and monitor and keep accurate reports on the use of computers in the SEEK Tutoring Center and in the Computer Lab.

  • Assist students with access to wireless services, Degree Works, and learning management systems, such as Blackboard and Brightspace.

  • Assist with advisement and registration of SEEK students.

  • Support the creation of recruitment material and attend recruitment events on and off-campus.

QUALIFICATIONS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor of Technology (BT) in Computer Science or related degree

  • A minimum of two years of relevant experience in a higher education setting is preferred

  • Experience in conducting trainings or workshops in the use of technological programs

  • Working knowledge of online learning platforms and academic software

  • Customer service orientation and ability to support and collaborate successfully with a diverse college community

CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW

Provides support to students and faculty in the use of instructional systems, software, and programs.

  • Researches and prepares program materials, FAQs, and user guides

  • Provides telephone and/or email support for faculty and student users of instructional systems, software, and programs

  • Develops training materials and delivers orientation/training sessions

  • Maintains on-line information on web sites

  • Acts as liaison to related areas such as CUNY's Computer and Information Services area, to evaluate and escalate reported problems, and disseminate information notices

  • Assists faculty with use of instructional technology to support educational goals

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

$57,517 - $65,946. Salary commensurate with education and experience.
