Description
Working closely with certified Athletic Trainers and Orthopedic surgeons, participates in the evaluation and treatment of sports medicine patients including activities related to conducting physical assessments, taking medical histories, surgery scheduling, pre-op paperwork, post-operative clinics, post-surgical pin removal, and applying prostheses.
KEY RESPONSIBILITES:
May observe or participate in orthopedic surgical procedures.
Collaborates with rehabilitation staff to ensure optimal patient care through therapy sessions; administers therapeutic modality treatments.
Fits athletes for braces, applies splints or casts, applies traction splints and assists in managing rehabilitation programs.
Prepares detailed responses to various educational assignments.
Develops and conducts presentations related to sports medicine topics.
May assist in providing sports medicine coverage at various events.
Performs related responsibilities as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
An undergraduate degree in athletic training from an accredited university.
Completion of a master's degree in education with a concentration in physical education, health promotion or other related specialty.
Certification from the National Athletic Trainers' Association Board of Certification (NATABOC).
CAATE - Accredited Athletic Training Residency Program
NOTE: Position tasks are required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location; working remote is not an option. Emory reserves the right to change this status with notice to employee.
