Description

Software Test Engineer, you will work directly under the Software Engineering Lead and be responsible for leading/collaborating on improving developer and engineering team's test coverage, release velocity and production health of software products. You will work alongside software engineers, product management and UX design in a fast-paced startup like environment to define and build the best healthcare consumer product experience. Unlike roles with similar names at the other companies, Test Engineers at HealthIO aren't manual testers -- you write scripts to automate testing and create tools so developers can test their own code. As a Test Engineer, you navigate our products and code bases, identify weak spots and constantly design better and creative ways to break software and identify potential problems. To be successful, you use your knowledge of testing and testability to influence better software design, promote proper engineering practice, implement bug prevention strategies, and foster testability, accessibility, privacy and other advanced quality concepts across products. Role You will:

  • Automate repeated tasks and build test coverage through existing or new application components and services

  • Work closely with engineering teams in instrumenting their workflow to build a comprehensive picture of velocity, test coverage and quality

  • Write moderately complex code/scripts to test systems, implementing test harnesses and infrastructure as necessary

  • Write test plans, create test cases and assist with debugging based on feature requirements analysis and software design concepts

  • Participate in Agile development ceremonies to design solutions, estimate effort, and collaborate with the team to effectively plan work

  • Assist in technical presentations and info-sharing sessions to create a clear and uniform understanding of the new systems to various constituents across the organization Qualifications Required:

  • 3 years of detail oriented experience in software engineering and test automation

  • Demonstrated experience writing automated unit tests, regression tests and system integration tests + Demonstrated experience with test methodologies, writing test plans, creating test cases and debugging + Demonstrated experience using continuous build and integration environments

  • Demonstrated experience tracking work tasks, details, and issues using a work management tool

  • Excellent technical design, problem solving and debugging skills

  • Solid written and verbal communication skills

Requirements

Open to working with a hybrid of Automated and Manual Testing (at least open to learning)

Strong Communication Skills

A serious drive and passion for Technology

Desired:

  • Experience in creating software as a service (SaaS) solutions, ideally business-to-business (B2B)

  • Experience in environments subject to HIPAA and/or PCI regulations

  • Experience developing test harnesses for APIs and Bluetooth devices

  • Experience implementing real-time production services monitoring and dashboards
