Job Summary: The General Manager of the University Radio Station, WBSU 89.1, is responsible for overseeing the daily operations and strategic direction of the station, which operates 24/7/365. This position includes leadership, programming oversight, staff management, and ensuring compliance with all regulatory standards. The General Manager will mentor 50-60 student volunteers across 10 departments, fostering creativity and professional growth within a dynamic, student-run media environment. Key responsibilities also include preparing and reviewing FCC logs and public files, maintaining up-to-date knowledge of the broadcasting industry, managing the station's budget, and pursuing funding opportunities. The role emphasizes preparing students for future careers in broadcasting, marketing, and related fields.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Communications, Broadcasting, Media Studies, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in radio broadcasting or media management.

  • Strong leadership and team-building skills.

  • Familiarity with student media and mentoring student staff.

  • Proficiency in budgeting and financial management.

  • Knowledge of FCC regulations and compliance requirements.

  • Experience with radio broadcasting equipment and software.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a university or educational setting.

  • Creative and innovative approach to programming and content development.

    Work Schedule: Monday - Friday daytime hours, some nights and weekends.

    Salary and Benefits:

The minimum salary for this position is $64,474.
