Job Summary

The purpose of the Project Engineer position is to assist the Project Manager in the day-to-day technical management of the project. This includes coordination of detailed design, schedule, procurement and stage gate process (P&ID review, Hazop, Model Reviews, Safety Reviews).

The project engineer provides critical value to the organization by ensuring the project stays on track to achieve it business goals. As the key interface between the various organizations in Messer, project engineers gain unique insights into the functioning of the organization and how Messer delivers value to our customer. They use this insight to dive their project(s) forward.

Job Responsibilities:

Perform project engineering activities. These activities include but are not limited to

  • Support the Project Manager in all aspects of the project both in the office and the field
  • Coordinate Discipline[1] Engineering between internal engineers and EPC partners to ensure completeness and timeliness[2].
  • Handle the day-to-day detailed management of the project schedule
  • Handle the day-to-day transactional process of purchase and invoices
  • Manage the document control process
  • Manage all the design reviews including HAZOP/PSR and PSSR process
  • Coordinate with Construction and Commissioning Program Managers on Manpower Requirements.
  • Other possibilities depending on experience level of Project Engineer
  • Planning and implementation of commissioning
  • Provide regular updates to stakeholders on their assigned projects. This can approve budget, schedule, and technical progress.

Required:

  • Proven technical knowledge in an engineering disciplines
  • Familiarity with FEL/Stage/Gate project management methodology (PEMBOK), and Project Management software and tools (including but not limited to Excel, Word, PowerPoint, MS project, Primavera)
  • Ability to learn relevant regulatory standards and compliance requirements.
  • Ability to travel 20-40% as required for site visits, shop visits, Coordination with Engineering Contractors, QA/QC support, etc.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field
  • Minimum of 2 years relevant experience in industrial gases or chemical plant design/operation/projects OR a recent graduate of Messer Graduate Development Program.
