Job Description
Responsible for leading all credit risk management activities for Commercial Mortgage Division (“CMD”). CMD is a small balance term lending program, specializing in loans secured by stabilized multifamily properties in strong markets.
Major Responsibilities:
Credit Framework & Strategy. Establish and maintain a credit risk appetite framework for underwriting and portfolio management that drives growth while prioritizing risk-adjusted returns.
Underwriting Oversight. Oversee all aspects of credit, underwriting, and workflow for new lending activity, including initial opportunity assessments, pre-flight discussions, and final approvals.
Team Leadership. Lead the CMD Underwriting Department, including , staffing, training & development, performance evaluations, promotions, and hiring.
Sales Partnership. Collaborate with CMD Sales Manages and Loan Officers on market positioning, credit appetite, and day-to-day loan origination workflow.
Policy & Process Development. Collaborate with CMD stakeholders on policy, procedure, and tool development, including job aids, scorecards, and credit underwriting tools impacting CMD and the greater CRE group.
Risk Collaboration. Work closely with Credit Risk Management on loan approvals, portfolio management, and adherence and refinement of credit policies and procedures.
Portfolio Risk Management. Support the CMD IAR Manager and Asset Management Team in portfolio reviews and emerging risk identification within the portfolio.
Stakeholder Engagement. Engage with internal and external stakeholders, including regulators, auditors, and third-party risk managers (e.g., appraisal, environmental, seismic, credit investigations).
Strategic Initiative Support. Contribute to the successful execution of enterprise-wide initiatives and special projects affecting CMD and/or CRE.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience
12+ years of banking experience
7+ years of management experience
Preferred Skills/Experience
CRE Expertise. Extensive knowledge of commercial real estate lending policy, all applicable laws and regulations, credit quality standards, and company and business line policies and procedures
Credit Acumen. Extensive knowledge of credit products
Leadership. Well-developed leadership abilities and strategic management skills
Analytical Skills. Strong analytical, decision-making and problem-solving skills
Communication. Effective verbal and written communication skills
Professionalism. High level of tact and diplomacy

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. In addition to salary, U.S. Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401(k) contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). Pay Range: $206,720.00 - $243,200.00 - $267,520.00
