JOB SUMMARY
The Aerial Technician II will perform a variety of intermediate aerial design functions associated with outside plant (OSP) cable plans. The Aerial Technician II will have intermediate knowledge of all aspects of the aerial drafting phases including Make-Ready Design, Wind Loading calculations, Field reports, JPA forms of the design project while performing Quality Control/Quality Assurance.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Generate wind load analysis using O-Calc and SPIDAcalc software
Submit an organized job package for each project that could include maps, field notes, drawings, digital images and JPA forms
Identify attachments on utility poles including conductors, communication lines, and equipment
Receive survey reports, maps, drawings, aerial photography, and other geographic data from Fielding department.
Utilize relevant pole loading information, including exact measurements of existing equipment, site details, digital images, measurements, etc.
Perform QA/QC reviews to evaluate all aerial tasks to meet client deadlines
Successfully complete assigned poles and Make-Readys per day without errors
Read and understand Utility Maps and related Pole records
Finalize Make-Ready packages from field notes and pictures
Complete data entry into computer systems and Tracker
May train an Aerial Technician I, and Aerial Technician Trainee
Working overtime may be required as needed to meet client deadlines
Perform all other duties as assigned
QUALFICATIONS AND SKILLS
High School Diploma or equivalent
2+ years of experience with wind loading tech, JPA, Make-Ready Engineer
2+ years of experience working with the following pole loading programs: SPIDA or O-Calc
Strong understanding of GO95 and NESC standards
Ability to take direction and perform specific tasks without direct supervision.
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
Strong Computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Google Earth and Adobe Acrobat.
Working knowledge of local city, county, and local utility company design standards for the purposes of obtaining permits.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
