A Day in the Life

MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB

The Principal Training and Education Specialist is a customer-facing full-time position responsible for driving novel Education and Training programs for Medical/Academic Professionals, Sales and Marketing Associates on diagnostic, procedures, to increase technology and product adoption to improve patient outcomes. Internally the primary focus is the enhance and develop sales performance of the affiliate through implementation and execution of sales/marketing learning and development. There is also a strong focus to engage HCPs participating in Medtronic-sponsored programs in a robust educational dialogue regarding the Company’s product(s) & therapeutic areas of focus.

MAIN JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES (may include the following and other duties may be assigned):

• Plans, develops, and coordinates in-house product training programs for field support personnel and customers.

• Obtains information needed to prepare in-house training programs; prepares training materials; develops course content; determines methodology; and coordinates the development of training aids.

• Ensures training program(s) meets company and customer objectives.

• Maintains communication with customers to ensure effectiveness of training.

• May utilize trainers with technical expertise.

• Continuously revises lesson plans to meet new training requirements and to keep technical information up to date.

• Responsible for reporting complaints and Adverse Drug Reactions (ADR)

Formulates and executes training and education programs, including objective setting, curriculum and material development, instruction methodology and key success measurement indicators for:

• Sales Associates

• Marketing Associates

• HCPs

• Association partners

• Ensures training program(s) meets company and customer objectives.

Internal :

o Manage sales training function and efforts for the Business regions, to increase sales performance and enhance sales force competency

o Provides leadership and support to the Sales and Marketing team members with focus on current and future clinical initiatives to ensure an outstanding patient onboarding experience and successful product launches.

o Maintains communication with customers to ensure effectiveness of training o Manage sales training function and efforts for the Business regions to increase sales performance and enhance sales force competency.

External:

o Collaborates with internal partners as required for programs, projects or individual situations, including Clinical Research, Marketing, Legal, Regulatory, Sales, etc.

o Continues HCP contact to ensure ongoing needs are understood and that team and program development are aligned with those needs.

o Creates, reviews and updates standard operating procedures and work instructions as required.

o Adhere to education and training compliance and monitoring processes and standards.

CAREER STREAM: Typically an individual contributor with responsibility in a professional discipline or specialty. Delivers and/or manages projects assigned and works with other stakeholders to achieve desired results. May act as a mentor to colleagues or may direct the work of other lower level professionals. The majority of time is spent delivering and overseeing the projects – from design to implementation - while and adhering to policies, using specialized knowledge and skills normally acquired through advanced education

DIFFERENTIATING FACTORS:

Autonomy : Recognized expert, managing large projects or processes. Exercises considerable latitude in determining deliverables of assignments, with limited oversight from manager. Coaches, reviews and delegates work to lower level specialists.

Organizational Impact : Contributes to defining the direction for new products, processes, standards, or operational plans based on business strategy with a significant impact on work group results. May manage large projects or processes that span outside of immediate job area.

Innovation and Complexity : Problems and issues faced are difficult, moderately complex and undefined, and require detailed information gathering, analysis and investigation. Develops solutions to moderately complex problems, and/or makes moderate to significant improvements of processes, systems or products independently to enhance performance of job area. Implements solutions to problems.

Communication and Influence : Represents organization as a primary contact for specific projects and initiatives; communicates with internal and external customers and vendors at various levels. May negotiate with others to reach understanding or agreement, and influence decision-making.

Leadership and Talent Management : Typically provides guidance, coaching and training to other employees within job area. Typically manages major / moderately complex projects, involving delegation of work and review of work products, at times acting as a team leader.

Required Knowledge and Experience : High School Diploma or equivalent with 11+ years of relevant experience in a clinical lab setting, clinical training, field sales/support in medical device, healthcare industry or equivalent experience (OR Associate's Degree with 9+ years experience OR Baccalaureate Degree with 7+ years experience

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

KNOWLEDGE/EDUCATION

• High School Diploma or equivalent, or;

• Associate’s Degree, or;

• Bachelor’s degree.

JOB EXPERIENCE

• 11+ years of relevant experience in a clinical lab setting, clinical training, field sales/support in medical device, healthcare industry or equivalent experience, with a High School Degree, or;

• 9+ years of relevant experience in a clinical lab setting, clinical training, field sales/support in medical device, healthcare industry or equivalent experience, with an Associate’s degree, or;

• 7+ years of relevant experience in a clinical lab setting, clinical training, field sales/support in medical device, healthcare industry or equivalent experience, with a bachelor’s degree.

SKILLS/COMPETENCIES

• Proven effectiveness in planning, coordinating with and reporting activities to Operations Head

• Ability to demonstrate impact and success achieved as an educator in measurably improving performance and compliance to target operating and/or service standards

• Proven communication, listening and motivational skills

• Experience in digital training platforms

• E-learning

• Skilled Presenter- Experience training big groups of people.

• An effective education coach at the frontline advisor level

• Available to travel in and out of the country
