Here’s the scoop - Summary

The role of the Innovation & Portfolio Director at Champion Petfood involves leading the creation and execution of the company's Innovation strategy, as well as overseeing a competitive global portfolio. By fostering strong collaborations with the R&I and Brand teams, this individual plays a crucial part within the Marketing Leadership and Innovation Leadership groups. In addition to the functional responsibilities, the role also calls for a strong focus on team engagement in a relationship centered corporate culture. Ultimately, this role delivers to our compelling purpose – To earn pet lovers trust everyday so pets thrive for a lifetime.

This role is based in Boulder, CO and works a hybrid schedule between in office and working from a home-based office.

What a typical day looks like:

• Develop and manage innovation pipelines with a focus on DS3 Breakthrough and DS2 (Core) projects

• Create category strategies and portfolio plans for Cat, Dog, and C&T by region

• Implement sustainable scaling strategies by brand and market to drive growth

• Simplify the brand and overall product portfolio to optimize efficiency and effectiveness

• Orchestrate the growth model, flywheel, and IVCP to maximize results

• Oversee governance processes related to portfolio management, innovation initiatives, and standardization of recipes

What are we looking for?

• 10+ years’ leadership experience, in Marketing Innovation or Marketing Portfolio roles

• MBA or equivalent experience or education.

• Global experience 2+ markets.

• Experience driving an R&D/innovation agenda and building an efficient and effective portfolio strategy.

• Experience or Qualifications in Design Thinking or FEI frameworks, including demonstrated skills in facilitating global workshops and planning and strategy processes.

• The flexibility to travel at least 50% of the time.

• The passion and commitment to fit with the company’s collaboration and relationship centered corporate culture and leadership team.

• Experience in developing and implementing sustainable scaling strategies across different brands and markets.

• Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work across teams and departments effectively.

• Understanding of governance structures and processes related to portfolio management and innovation.

• Continual learner, keeping abreast of the latest developments in innovation process.

• High energy with a drive to succeed; ability to thrive in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment and ability to remain calm and objective while moving the organization towards its vision.
