This position involves data collection, processing, quality control, and managing survey data collected in the field. The Senior Survey Technician works closely with surveyors and other team members to ensure the accuracy and completeness of survey information. Responsibilities Data Processing: Process raw survey data collected in the field, including GPS, total station, and laser scanning data, to create accurate survey maps and drawings. Quality Control: Review and verify survey data to ensure accuracy and compliance with project specifications and industry standards. CAD and GIS Software: Utilize Computer-Aided Design (CAD) and Geographic Information System (GIS) software to generate maps, drawings, and reports based on survey data. Documentation: Maintain detailed records of survey data, reports, and project documentation for future reference and project archives. Project Support: Collaborate with surveyors and field crews to provide technical support and guidance on survey-related issues. Equipment Maintenance: Assist in the maintenance and calibration of survey equipment, including total stations, GPS receivers, and data collectors. Data Management: Organize and manage survey data files, ensuring data security and accessibility. Communication: Communicate regularly with project managers, surveyors, and other team members to report progress and address data-related concerns. Training: Provide training and mentorship to junior survey technicians and office staff as needed. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent (Bachelor's degree in surveying or a related field preferred). Several years of experience in survey data processing and office operations. Proficiency in CAD and GIS software, such as AutoCAD, ArcGIS, or similar applications. Knowledge of surveying principles, techniques, and equipment. Strong attention to detail and excellent problem-solving skills. Effective communication and teamwork abilities. Familiarity with data management and record-keeping best practices. Relevant certifications, such as LSIT or Certified Survey Technician (CST), may be a plus. The pay range for this Washington position is $40.00- $50.00 per hour; based on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience of the candidate. NV5 may provide restricted stock units, sign-on bonuses, stay bonuses, or relocation allowances as part of the compensation package.
