Applicants with a demonstrated interest in promoting DEI&B in the financial services industry and students who can bring a unique and authentic perspective to the Pension Reserve Investment Management Board (PRIM) are especially encouraged to apply. /This 10-week fellowship will begin on Monday, June 3, 2024, and conclude on Friday, August 12, 2024 and will// be in a hybrid in office format./ About PRIM: *The Pension Reserves Investment Management (“PRIM”) Board is charged with the general supervision of the Pension Reserves Investment Trust (“PRIT”) Fund, created by legislation to accumulate assets through investment earnings and other revenue sources in order to assist the Commonwealth in reducing its unfunded pension liability and likewise to assist local participating retirement systems in meeting their pension obligations. *Position Summary: *The Pension Reserves Investment Management Board is seeking a Finance Fellow to support the investment team. As a PRIM Fellow, you will learn about both the investment industry as well as the public pension investment space. This is an opportunity to gain valuable industry insight, develop new skills, and establish a network of mentors and business contacts. This fellowship will provide exposure to investment industry leadership and research and offer training with industry technology. As a PRIM Finance Fellow, you will have the opportunity to work with an innovative investment management team on challenging, analytical, investment-related projects. PRIM is seeking a self-motivated individual who will thrive working in a fast-paced environment. *Potential Fellowship focus areas: * Public Markets and Fixed Income * Private Equity * Real Estate Responsibilities and Duties (May Vary): * Attend both internal and external, general investment programming with other interns. * Work on projects that impact PRIM’s investment strategy. * Conduct market research, financial modeling, investment valuation and other due diligence work related to prospective investments. * Analyze operational forecasts and budgets for active and potential investments. * Build company specific financial and valuation models. * Attend PRIM Board and Committee meetings and hear presentations from PRIM leadership. * Attend internal investment strategy sessions and external asset manager meetings. * Gain experience using industry tools like FactSet, Bloomberg, and eVestment. * Participate in due diligence calls and meetings with existing and prospective investment managers. * Prepare financial models for prospective portfolio company. * Assist in the management of due diligence data rooms for prospective investments and ensure the collection, organization, and completeness of requested information. * Perform market and sector research as needed. * Research and analyze portfolio company information, including financial statements, tax returns, collateral, agreements, contracts, legal documents, and other key items that affect credit risk. * Compile data and analyze existing portfolio companies based on past, current, and projected performance. * Assist in the preparation of investment due diligence reports and recommendations. * Perform other related duties and assignments, as delegated. Education and Background: * Candidates must be currently pursuing an undergraduate/graduate degree in Business Administration or Finance. * Academic experience and/or interest in fundamental and statistical research. * Interest in gaining industry experience and exposure to a wide range of investment areas and with top investment managers in the industry. * Interest in researching asset allocation strategies and global economics Knowledge and Skills: * Ability to prepare and present research findings to colleagues at PRIM. * Ability to work independently and as part of a team. * Ability to interact effectively with various stakeholders * Excellent organizational skills and an ability to multitask are required to meet deadline-driven projects * Effective interpersonal skills are required to interact with various company employees, at all levels, as well as external partners. * Self-starter with curiosity about investment management. * Strong analytical and MS Excel skills. * Strong oral and written communication skills and attention to detail. * The Fellow is subject to confidential financial information. Fellows will also be encouraged to participate in Treasury wide DEI&B programming and initiatives.
