American Tower SVP, Global Supply Chain Management in Boston, Massachusetts
The Team
We are seeking a Senior Vice President, Global Supply Chain Management (“SCM”) to drive the transformation, optimization, and management of American Tower Corporation’s global procurement and supply chain function to include responsibility for greater than $2 billion in total spending across the company. Procurement and cost transformation are critical components of the company’s strategic priority of profitable growth and, as such, the Senior Vice President will work closely with leaders across the organization to ensure that materials and services procurement strategies, commercial relationships with partners, sourcing strategies for all other critical commodity areas, and the supply chain operations supporting the company align closely with business plans. Internal customers are located throughout the United States, Latin America, Africa, and Europe. Ultimately, the Senior Vice President is accountable to build the right commercial relationships with alliance partners and suppliers while improving fundamental sourcing processes throughout the company, with a strong focus on cost reduction.
This position will be hybrid-office based within one of the company’s major market locations, with a preference for the Boston, MA office location.
What You Need to Succeed
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field required.
Advanced degree preferred.
A minimum of 15 years of experience in leadership positions of increasing complexity, focused on supply chain management, logistics, or a translatable operations function required.
Experience leading all elements of procurement of direct materials and indirect/service categories across supply base management, including strategic sourcing, supplier delivery and quality performance management, and demand-supply planning for direct and indirect procurement required.
Excellent negotiation skills, with experience leading complex negotiations with suppliers for favorable costs and supply arrangements required.
Experience leading major procurement organizational transformations (ideally from decentralized to center-led), while delivering significant cost, quality, and service delivery improvements strongly preferred.
Experience managing processes in a complex transactional and geographically dispersed environment strongly preferred.
Excellent financial and business acumen skills.
Excellent leadership skills; ability to drive and motivate a team to achieve results.
Excellent organization, planning, and project management skills; ability to prioritize tasks for yourself and a team to meet requirements and deadlines.
Ability to work with different functional groups and levels of employees to achieve results effectively and professionally.
Approximately 30% travel may be required to support the position’s responsibilities.

Oversee and manage $1.5 billion in addressable spend opportunities through strategic leadership in supply chain management, driving efficiency, cost savings, and innovation.
Manage all procurement and supply chain operations, encompassing all direct and indirect addressable spending.
Develop and implement comprehensive warehousing and sparing strategies to optimize inventory management and reduce operational costs.
Ensure vendor compliance with safety certifications, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.
Establish and manage a vendor performance management program, including performance metrics, regular evaluations, and improvement plans to drive supplier excellence.
Assess and monitor suppliers' capabilities, market trends, and emerging technologies in key categories to identify opportunities for innovation and strategic sourcing.
Own the relationship with major strategic supply partners in conjunction with organizational leaders. Oversee the corporate review cycles for spending.
Oversee the development and implementation of best practice cross-functional commodity teams and sourcing practices across all key spending areas.
Develop and execute a strong supplier relationship management program to extract maximum value and performance from supplier relationships.
Relentlessly pursue improvement in performance levels for product and service quality and reliability across the supply base.
Personally lead negotiations for major and strategic supplier agreements, partnering closely with business unit leaders.
Implement best-in-class procurement processes to efficiently deliver procurement services, build competitively advantaged knowledge bases, and reduce transactional support costs across the organization.
Foster a culture of continuous improvement and skill-building within the organization, ensuring supply chain and procurement is a clear value-add function.
Provide leadership in the planning, designing, due diligence, and implementation of strategic business objectives.
Work cross-functionally to ensure the maximization of cost transformation.
Develop a high-performing team and strong bench of talent capable of taking larger roles within procurement, supply chain, or elsewhere, including the evaluation of talent and refinement of the organizational model where necessary.
Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, standards, and policies globally.
