Commonwealth Care Alliance Stars Senior Data Analyst in Boston, Massachusetts

Why This Role is Important to Us:

As a Stars Senior Data Analyst, your main focus will be to improve publicly reported rates and close the gaps in Stars performance. You will achieve this through the effective use of data analytics, technology, and reference material. Reporting directly to the Director of Population Health and Quality Analytics, you will closely collaborate with them to ensure that your work aligns with the organization's overarching goals and STAR strategies. In this role, you will closely partner with internal and external teams to proactively identify derived from the data and provide operational support for performance improvement. Your expertise in Quality Measures and Star Ratings will be crucial as you consult with key stakeholders and create meaningful insights from the data used for Stars and other quality measures.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Knowledge of Medicare Star Rating methodology; NCQA HEDIS measures; CAHPS and HOS surveys

  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of analytic programming languages and data visualization tools, including SAS, SQL, and Tableau.

  • Ability to develop, interpret and explain analytics needed by the business for decision making and improvement.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and produce complex reports and dashboards. Experience and expertise with designing and executing analyses to evaluate the effectiveness of interventions to improve measures.

  • Strong ability to generate information that is easily understood and actionable by key stakeholders (Market, Quality, Pharmacy, Member experience team) in alignment with clearly defined analytic/reporting requirements.

  • Possess excellent communication skills and ability to effectively interact with all levels of management.

  • Knowledge of health plan operations, health care claims and other relevant data sources (e.g. EMR, Authorizations).

  • Ability to organize, plan and prioritize assignments within multiple projects.

  • Ability to work with minimal direction and flexibility when rapid or extensive changes are needed.

  • Other duties, as assigned.

What We're Looking For:

Education Required:

  • BA/BS in Health Analytics, Public Health, Health Care Administration, Health Economics, or a related field with strong emphasis in data analysis.

Education Desired:

  • Advanced degree preferred

Experience Required:

  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in reporting and analyzing quality improvement measures in a health plan.

  • Experience working in Stars (HEDIS, HOS, CAHPS) at a large national or regional health plan.

  • Experience executing in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.

Experience Desired:

  • Experience with Medicaid-Medicare populations a plus

  • Experience in data analytics and using data to inform decisions preferred
