The Role
We are looking for an experienced and dynamic external communications senior director to join our Communications team. You will be responsible for developing and executing strategic communications plans that elevate our corporate narrative, support our financial and public policy objectives and enhance our reputation as a leader in the industry. You will oversee a team of experienced communications professionals and work closely with the VP, External Communications to drive the strategy with high visibility to senior leadership.

The Main Responsibilities
Develop and implement effective external communications strategies and campaigns that drive our corporate narrative, highlight our financial progress, and promote our public policy goals, collaborating closely with functions such as investor relations, government affairs, legal, marketing and product to advance the company’s priorities and elevate its position as an industry leader
Manage media relations and proactively pitch stories to relevant journalists and influencers, as well as respond to media inquiries.
Write and edit high-quality communications materials, such as press releases, op-eds, speeches, briefing notes, Q&A, and social media posts.
Monitor and analyze media coverage and public sentiment, and provide insights and recommendations to inform communications activities and policy positions.
Work collaboratively with the Issues Management Team to identify corporate issues and potential crises , ensuring the organization is prepared to respond effectively. Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including media and industry trade associations.
Collaborate with other teams and functions, such as Investor Relations, Marketing, Product, Legal, and HR, to ensure alignment and consistency of messaging and tone of voice.
Drive and own the strategic vision for external communications, ensuring alignment with overall company objectives.
Provide leadership and mentorship to a team of experienced communications professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.
Ensure high visibility and engagement with senior leadership, presenting strategic communications plans and updates regularly.
What We Look For in a Candidate
Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, public relations, or related field.
At least 10 years of experience in external communications, with working knowledge of media relations, financial communications, or public affairs, preferably in a technology company..
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling and engaging stories for different audiences and channels.
Strong media relations skills, with a proven track record of securing positive coverage and building relationships with journalists and influencers, especially with financial press and within the Beltway.
Sound knowledge and understanding of public policy issues and trends, especially in the areas of technology, innovation, and social impact.
Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects and deadlines, while maintaining attention to detail and quality.
Ability to think strategically and creatively, and adapt to changing situations and priorities.
Team player, with a collaborative and proactive approach to work.
Proven leadership skills, with experience managing and mentoring a team.
Compensation
This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience and other relevant factors.
Location Based Pay Ranges
$171,447 - $228,596 in these states: AL AR AZ FL GA IA ID IN KS KY LA ME MO MS MT ND NE NM OH OK PA SC SD TN UT VT WI WV WY
$180,020 - $240,026 in these states: CO HI MI MN NC NH NV OR RI
$188,592 - $251,456 in these states: AK CA CT DC DE IL MA MD NJ NY TX VA WA
