Boston University RESEARCH MANAGER, School of Medicine, Anatomy & Neurobiology in BOSTON, Massachusetts

This position includes both project and laboratory management roles. The lab supervisor will track the lab on-going projects by communicating with Principle Investigator and researchers/trainees to successfully complete projects with deadlines. Also, lab supervisor will maintain supplies and facilitate all aspects of the daily operations of the laboratory. This includes coordination of all routine maintenance schedules including cell lines and animals. The incumbent will also help to train students, both pre-doctoral and post-doctoral and all new laboratory personnel in basic laboratory safety, required computational tasks, and correct instrument usage as directed by the Principal Investigator. Lab supervisor will also support PIs work on preparing grant applications. The incumbent will be responsible for data management. Responsibilities will include leading activities on quality control checks, cleaning and preparing data for analysis. Detailed data dictionaries will also need to be prepared to accompany the data for widespread use by internal and external researchers. Biostatistical and bioinformatics responsibilities include conducting both traditional biostatistical, novel machine learning and other bioinformatics analytic methods to the complex data collected from several research projects as well as external research collaborators. Analysis work will range in the identification of genetic/genomic, neurologica, immune, and other risk factors in Gulf-war illness, cognitive aging and dementia. Additional responsibilities will include the development of statistical pipeline for analyzing complex MRI imaging data, management of brain aging phenotypes. The position requires advanced programming skills for data analytics as well as building on an existing codebase to add features extraction of novel computed measures.

Required Skills

This position requires a bachelor's degree in a related field of study with 2-3 years of direct experience. includes both project and laboratory management roles.
