Tufts Medicine Postdoctoral Research Fellow - Molecular Cardiology Research Institute in Boston, Massachusetts

We’re saving lives, building careers, and reimagining healthcare. We can’t wait to grow alongside you.

Job Overview

The Molecular Cardiology Research Institute at Tufts Medical Center in Boston, invites post-doctoral applications for a position to study hormonal regulation of vascular function and disease in the laboratory of Dr. Iris Jaffe. Clinical studies support that an excess of the hormone aldosterone promotes vascular remodeling and atherosclerosis and that inhibition of aldosterone interaction with the Mineralocorticoid Receptor (MR) decreases mortality, heart attacks, and strokes. The Jaffe lab is investigating the molecular mechanisms by which MR regulates vascular function in order to identify new therapeutic targets to prevent or treat cardiovascular diseases in humans.

A highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Fellow is sought, ideally with prior experience in molecular biology and/or in animal physiology. The laboratory uses state of the art molecular and cellular biology assays, large scale genomics and proteomics, ex vivo vascular function studies, and state-of-the-art mouse models of vascular injury and atherosclerosis to address clinically relevant questions in vascular biology and physiology. The successful applicant will work closely with the Principal Investigator on research projects studying the vascular mechanisms contributing to hypertension, vascular dysfunction and cardiovascular disease. As needed, the individual will be required to independently develop protocols and establish new methodologies in the laboratory. The applicant would be intimately involved in writing and presenting new discoveries. The position requires:
