Job Description:

Our client is looking for an Infrastructure Project Manager who will be responsible for complete execution of all infrastructure projects from initiation to closure. The Infrastructure Project Manager will define initial project scope and resources both internal and external, vendor resources, milestones, and deadlines in coordination with the functional areas, Information Services technical groups, as well as external vendors. The Infrastructure Project Manager will develop and initiate requests for proposals to vendors in a process-oriented and repeatable environment working closely with technical colleagues. The Infrastructure Project Manager will manage all submitted vendor RFPs and award vendor contracts to ensure successful and quality implementation of network projects based on specific standards and best practices and design specifications.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Direct external vendors on execution of design specifications, implementation, and successful deployment of AV, cabling, and network technologies.

  • Work with internal departments on renovations and new construction of network requirements including technology refresh and implementation of new technologies.

  • Educate external vendors on standards, quality of service and best practices, and documentation standards.

  • Create, maintain, and direct the tasks on the project plan for the implementation of infrastructure in and around buildings, classrooms, collaboration spaces, event spaces, and offices.

  • Analyze project proposals to determine time frame, funding limitations, and appropriate process for accomplishing projects.

  • Identify and schedule project deliverables, milestones, and required activities and tasks.

  • Ensure the project is delivered on time and on budget.

  • Present at Executive and Steering Committee meetings as needed.

  • Read and understand documents for each assigned project including, but not limited to project scopes of work, bid drawings and specifications, contract, subcontractor scopes of work, and construction schedules.

  • Obtain quotes from qualified subcontractors as necessary.

  • Facilitate internal project kick-off meetings that include key participants.

  • Point of contact for all internal and external project communication and documentation for the life of the project.

  • Understand AV, network, and infrastructure footprint, functionality, and installation processes and techniques.

  • Provide leadership and motivation to project team members throughout the project life cycle and confer with project staff to outline work plan.

  • Establish work plan and staffing for project activities, iterations or phases, and arrange for recruitment or assignment of project personnel.

  • Ensure project activities are completed on time.

  • Implement project communication and training plan.

  • Perform risk assessment and implement mitigation plans.

  • Monitor project activities, ensuring the currency, quality, and integrity of the information, while providing consistency in content and "look and feel" across the enterprise.

  • Follow the ITS Project Management Methodology.

  • Ensure that project goals are accomplished and in line with business objectives.

  • Assign duties, responsibilities, and scope of authority to project personnel.

  • Direct and coordinate activities of project personnel to ensure project progresses on schedule and within budget.

  • Provide weekly job progress reports to all internal and external stakeholders.

  • Acquire daily site progress reports from lead technicians and respond to needs identified.

  • Facilitate ordering of materials for projects.

  • Coordinate equipment distribution and shipping to meet project timelines.

  • Ensure clients receive appropriate training on all installed systems.

  • Create and maintain all project related documentation in accordance with company guidelines.

  • Establish standards and procedures for project reporting and documentation.

  • Continuously benchmark project management performance to identify improvements and achieve higher capability maturity in PPM.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.

  • Progressive hands-on work experience in network infrastructure, structured cable, with strong project management and troubleshooting.

  • Minimum of 5 years technical project management experience.

  • Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Excellent problem solving and decision-making skills.

  • Familiarity with blueprints, construction documentation, and AutoCad and Bluebeam.

  • Proven ability to document with excellent attention to detail.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage resources against priority projects, develop and manage project and implementation plans, and identify and fill resource gaps with internal and external resources.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of BCSI standards.

  • Any combination of the following, construction or related field experience, extensive knowledge of cabling structures including fiber optic, copper, and coaxial, manufacturer certified by Ortronics, cable and or systems experience with, CATV, CCTV, LAN, VOIP, and audio video, McCormick estimating system or similar system experience, and ITIL and PMP certifications is a plus (though not required).

  • Higher education experience is a plus.
