Role Summary:

The Data Engineer / Data Scientist will play a critical role in enhancing our data capabilities, including data modeling, data enrichment, data cleansing, and data engineering. This position requires a unique combination of analytical, technical, and communication skills, along with a strong background in life sciences data.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Data Modeling: Design, develop, and maintain scalable data models and schemas that support data analysis and reporting needs. Optimize data architecture to improve efficiency and reliability.

  • Data Enrichment: Identify opportunities to enrich our dataset with additional sources of information, improving the comprehensiveness and value of our data assets.

  • Data Cleansing: Implement robust data cleansing processes to ensure the accuracy, completeness, and quality of our datasets. Develop strategies to detect and correct data anomalies and inconsistencies.

  • Data Engineering: Build and maintain scalable data pipelines that support the ingestion, transformation, and storage of large volumes of data. Optimize data flow and collection for cross-functional teams.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including biostatisticians, researchers, and healthcare professionals, to understand their data needs and deliver actionable insights.

  • Innovation: Stay abreast of the latest technologies and methodologies in data science and engineering. Propose and implement innovative solutions to enhance our data capabilities and drive value from our data assets.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Bioinformatics, or a related field.

  • Proven experience as a Data Scientist or Data Engineer, preferably in the life sciences, healthcare, or related sectors.

  • Strong proficiency in SQL and experience with Amazon Redshift or similar data warehousing solutions.

  • Experience with data modeling, data cleansing, and ETL processes.

  • Knowledge of Python, R, or similar programming languages for data analysis.

  • Familiarity with machine learning algorithms and statistical modeling techniques.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.

  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, actionable insights.

The expected base salary for this position ranges from $120,000 to $140,000. It is not typical for offers to be made at or near the top of the range. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, licensure or certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. In addition to base salary and a competitive benefits package, successful candidates are eligible to receive a discretionary bonus.
