State of Massachusetts Contracted Student Intern- Commissioner's Office in Boston, Massachusetts
The Department of Mental Health (DMH) is seeking to hire an intern who will support the Commissioner's Office in Central Office Boston. _Duties and Responsibilities (these duties are a general summary and not all inclusive):_ * Mitigate risks of limited system capacity by optimizing DMH’s "front door” processes and partnerships * Develop recommendations and implementation plan for improving diversion services and improving the quality of referrals to DMH in order to ensure DMH is using its resources to serve people with the greatest need for our care. * Mitigate risks of limited system capacity by improving inpatient discharge processes * Develop recommendations and implementation plan for ensuring timely discharges from inpatient to community settings. * Support management of budget constraints by conducting fiscal analyses * Conduct analysis of data from DMH facilities on the use of staff overtime in order to identify actionable solutions to reducing overtime spending * Conduct analysis using human resources data to identify human resource-related risks and develop strategies to inform succession planning and recruitment priorities _Preferred Qualifications:_ * Strong writing and communication skills * Strong quantitative analysis skills * Coursework and/or experience working with data analysis and visualization tools * Given the population served, bilingual or multilingual fluency. _Period of Service:_ May 27, 2025 through August 29, 2025 _Additional Information:_ * Benefits are unavailable with the exception of sick leave accruals. * All employees will be paid on a biweekly basis and must have direct deposit. * The salary for this position is $19- 27 an hour. * Hours: 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. * Days Off: Saturday and Sunday _DMH Mission Statement:_ The Department of Mental Health assures and provides access to services and supports to meet the mental health needs of individuals of all ages, enabling them to live, work and participate in their communities. Salary placement is determined by a combination of factors, including the candidate’s years of directly related experience and education, and alignment with our internal compensation structure as set forth by the Human Resources Division’s Hiring Guidelines.
