Advisor/Senior Advisor - Proteomics, Lilly Gene Therapy

Come join the rapidly expanding Lilly Gene Therapy team at Eli Lilly! We are responsible for inventing, characterizing, and advancing novel genome therapy reagents for a myriad of clinical applications. Our team works cross-functionally within our organization across multiple disease areas and platforms. Our goal is to deliver on the promise of gene therapy to patients around the world.

Responsibilities:

The Translational Research group at Lilly Gene Therapy is seeking a proteomics scientist to support the translational efforts for AAV gene therapies, targeted nanoparticles and gene editing technologies. The ideal candidate will provide scientific expertise in quantitative proteomics with a solid background in mass spectrometry research. A solid foundation on assay development and validation, and knowledge of regulatory guidelines is required. The position requires attention to detail and ability to multitask as there are often multiple, concurrent projects. This is a lab-based position.

  • Design, execute, and interpret experiments to support different therapeutic programs

  • Perform data analysis, share and present results, and provide insights and recommendations

  • Identify, evaluate, and implement latest technologies and expand internal proteomics capabilities, in alignment with bioanalytical and discovery needs

  • Support the Quality team overseeing the implementation of external proteomics strategies, including activities like vendor selection and oversight, contract

  • executions, assay transfer/development and validation activities, and high-quality data delivery to preclinical studies and clinical trials

  • Develop strategies to deepen proteomics integration into early preclinical programs, taking novel approaches to address challenges.

  • Lead collaborations with internal and external experts to support the development of AAV and targeted nanoparticles bioanalytical assays

  • Plan and coordinate internal and external deliverables to support preclinical studies and clinical trials in accordance with program timelines

  • Support the Translational, Regulatory and Clinical teams authoring bioanalytical sections of clinical documents, and other regulatory documents

  • Report research, explaining relevant methodologies, applications, and limitations effectively to scientist from different disciplines

  • Keep meticulous records, documentation, and reporting of research

  • Comply with standard laboratory practices, including documentation and biosafety policies

  • Collaborate cross functionally across Lilly Research Laboratories to accelerate the development of genetic medicines

  • Stay current with novel technologies and the proteomics field

Basic Qualifications:

  • PhD in Biochemistry, Chemical Biology, Analytical Chemistry or a related scientific field with 4+ years of relevant work experience

Additional Skills/Preferences:

  • Solid understanding of proteomics methodologies, including quantification techniques and post-translational modifications.

  • Hands-on experience in setting up, operating, developing methods, and troubleshooting chromatography and mass spectrometry systems

  • Skilled in sample preparation, data acquisition, and analysis

  • Experience in drug development, with proven track record in advancing drug discovery projects through proteomics

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment

Actual compensation will depend on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location. The anticipated wage for this position is

$133,500 - $217,800

Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance).
