This position is for a full-time, 12-month, unclassified, staff position.

Minimum Qualifications
Master’s degree in Counseling.
Hold and maintain license as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with the State of Louisiana.
Supervision experience with PLCP’s preferred.
Knowledge of the following: modern counseling practices and methods; existing professional ethical standards; legal obligations; trauma counseling.
Five (5) or more years of post-degree work experience preferred.
Valid driver’s license.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must have use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public through the use of the telephone and personal contact as normally defined by the ability to see, read, talk, hear and handle or feel objects and controls.
Must have physical capability to effectively use and operate various items of office equipment such as, but not limited to, personal computer, calculator, copier, and fax machine.
Ability to occasionally lift or carry up to 10 pounds.
Must be capable of sitting in stationary position for 50% or more of time.

Job Concepts
This position serves as the primary liaison and referral agent between the student client and community resources. The individual will develop and implement processes related to crisis counseling for students, faculty/staff referrals of students while maintaining compliance with all Federal and State laws, Board of Regents and Louisiana Community and Technical College System policies.
Examples of Work
Act as the primary liaison and referral agent between the student client and campus and community resources.
Implement a process for faculty/staff referral of a student for counseling services.
Provide crisis counseling for students and student groups as needed.
Serve on-call for student mental health crisis.
Respond to emergency situations in a timely manner.
Form and maintain effective counseling relationships with clients, including monitoring student completion in the referral therapy process (i.e. drug and alcohol treatment and anger management treatment), and termination of the client relationship as soon as appropriate.
Maintain confidential records, referrals, and student contacts.
Maintain and provide a monthly service usage report in order to help determine future events/speakers/professional development.
Collaborate with the campus community to ensure compliance with Federal mandates, i.e., drug and alcohol prevention programs and sexual misconduct awareness as applies to the SaVE Act and the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA).
Follow all BoR and LCTCS mandates as related to compliance with federal laws.
Engage in activities which promote and enhance college counseling effectiveness.
Assist in the development and publication of current written materials to assist faculty and students.
Update the community resources as listed on the BPCC website at a minimum of the beginning of each semester.
Effectively communicate orally and in writing.
Abide and adhere to the State of Louisiana Board of Examiners’ Code of Ethics and all Louisiana law pertaining to a Licensed Professional Counselor and/or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist.
