Brunswick County Government Social Worker III - After Hours in Bolivia, North Carolina

Social Worker III - After Hoursprovides on call coverage for both Adult and Child Protective Services for the agency outside of normal business house. The normal schedule for this position is every other week, starting Friday afternoon (3:30 PM) and ending the following Friday morning (8:30 AM), including nights and weekends. The Department of Social Services is required to provide Social Work Services to the community 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and the person in this position helps the Department with this mandate.
Job responsibilities include:
- Responding to all calls made to the agency after normal business hours under the supervision of the On Call Supervisor.
- Initiating new and existing Adult and Child Protective Services reports.
- Assessing the safety of children and adults and take appropriate action per policy.
- Completing timely, concise, detailed documentation.
- Completing case initiations, follow-up home visits, interviews, and other requests as assigned by the supervisor.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of child welfare policies and legal mandates
- Knowledge of social work, practices, and principles
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite

There will be a significant amount of time spent in family homes and in the community. Must be available to work during emergency situations.
Education and Experience
- Master's degree in social work from an accredited school of social work; or
- Bachelor's degree in social work from an accredited school of social work and completion of the Child Welfare Collaborative (Child Welfare positions only); or
- Bachelor's degree in social work from an accredited school of social work and one year directly related experience; or
- Master's degree in a human services field and one year of directly related experience; or
- Bachelor's degree in a human services field from an accredited college or university and two years directly related experience; or
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and three years of directly related experience; or
- An equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

Physical Requirements
Must be physically able to operate a variety of office equipment.
Must be able to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pound of force frequently, or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
