This job was posted by https://idahoworks.gov : For more information, please see: https://idahoworks.gov/jobs/2362155 The interdisciplinary Environmental and Global Studies Programs at Boise State University seek to fill a temporary position at the Lecturer level with a one-year appointment. The ideal candidate will teach foundational courses in Environmental Studies and/or Global Studies, as well as electives in the successful candidate\'s area of expertise. The expected teaching load for the position is 4 - 4 at the undergraduate level.
Lecturers are non-tenure-track faculty whose primary responsibility is teaching non-clinical courses in degree and/or certificate programs for an academic year.
Minimum Qualifications
Masters degree in relevant field. Our current faculty are trained in anthropology, sociology, geography, history, political science, and philosophy.
Preferred Qualifications
- University teaching experience
- Academic expertise in environmental studies (e.g., ecology and biodiversity, sustainability, environmental problems, etc.) and/or global studies (e.g., international systems, area studies, global conflict, etc.)
- PhD in relevant discipline

Essential Functions
80% of Time the Lecturer I must:
- Teach Courses
- Design, develop, and deliver material using a range of methods and platforms (including in-person)
- Create course material, lesson plans, and curricula
- Engage with students in class and office hours
We expect the successful candidate to teach a selection of the following courses, based on the successful candidate\'s expertise:
- Multiple sections of Environmental Studies 121, Introduction to the Environment;
- Environmental Studies/Global Studies 220, Introduction to Environmental Change;
- Global Studies 101, Conflict and Cooperation in a Time of Change;
- Global Studies 201, Around the Globe: World Regions in a Time of Connection, Crisis, and Change
- Environmental Studies 200, Environmental Approaches and Methods;
- Environmental Studies 300, Environmental Management and Analysis;
- Global Studies 304/Urban Studies 410, Sustainable Futures/Sustainable Cities;
- Environmental Studies or Global Studies elective (3-400 level) in area of expertise; and/or
- Other courses in Environmental, Global, or Urban Studies that reflect the candidate\'s expertise
15% of Time the Lecturer I must:
- Meaningfully contribute to program activities and processes by serving on committees, attending meetings, participating in events, advising students, and related tasks
5% of Time the Lecturer I must:
- Perform other duties as assigned

Salary and Benefits:
Salary ranges from \$45,000 to \$50,000 (9 month contract)
Our standard faculty contract is a 9-month contract (unless otherwise noted) with pay and benefits spread over 12 months. This is a yearly, renewable contract, unless noted that the position is temporary. More information about faculty contract and work days is available here.
