Summary Statement

Energize Our Neighborhoods Assistant provides support to the Energize Our Neighborhoods program by transporting the Energize trailer to neighborhood events, representing the City of Boise at community events, and providing administrative support. This position regularly works evenings and weekends and works up to 20 hours per week.

This position is designated as At-Will.

Essential Functions

  • Manages the schedule, placement, inventory and maintenance plan of the Energize Block Party Trailer during the reservation season.

  • Attends community events as a representative of the City of Boise, focusing on engagement and input on neighborhoods.

  • Provides administrative support to the Energize Our Neighborhoods program.

  • Performs other duties as assigned. Nothing in this job description restricts management's right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this position at any time.

Requirements

Required Knowledge, Experience, And Training

Two years of experience in customer or community service, grant management, communication or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

Knowledge of:

  • professional business office practices

  • community engagement techniques and strategies

  • and computer usage including related software.

Ability to:

  • safely operate a city vehicle with towed trailer; navigate to various areas of the city

  • complete assignments in a timely fashion

  • communicate effectively in the English language at a level necessary for efficient job performance

  • and perform all essential functions as assigned by an authorized employee, supervisor and/or manager with or without reasonable accommodation.

Individuals must be capable of operating vehicles safely and have an acceptable driving record.

Preferred Knowledge, Experience, And Training

Experience towing and parking a trailer.

Licensing And Other Requirements

Valid state-issued driver’s license.

Special Requirements

Applicants must be able to pass:

City of Boise background check processes which includes a criminal history check and reference checks in accordance with the City of Boise Hiring Process Regulation

Working Conditions

Physical Efforts

While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently lifting/carrying up to 20 pounds and occasionally lifting/carrying up to 35 pounds. Also, the employee is frequently pushing/pulling up to 20 pounds and occasionally pushing/pulling up to 35 pounds. The noise level is occasionally moderate and rarely loud. Work includes sensory ability to talk and hear. Work in this position also includes close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception. Employees will sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach and grasp. Position requires hand/finger dexterity.

Working Environment

The work environment will include inside conditions, outdoor weather conditions, extreme temperatures, areas of dust, odors, mist and gases or other airborne matter. Employees will also drive a vehicle as part of this position.Traffic while driving, some parking areas are in residential streets that could have other hazards like uneven walkways

This position works: evenings and weekends.

19-Hour Temporary

All temporary part-time employees working less than an average of 19-hours per week are not currently eligible for benefits.

4-Month Temporary

All 4-month temporary employees working an average of 40-hours per week will accrue personal leave which can be used during employment.

8-Month Seasonal

In addition to accruing personal leave, anyone in an 8-month seasonal position working over an average of 30-hours per week is eligible for medical coverage.

9-Month Temporary

In addition to personal leave accrual and medical coverage, a position that is classified as a 9-month temporary is eligible for PERSI retirement benefits.
