Position:

The Idaho Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) is hiring an Accounts Receivable Technician for the State Office located in Boise, Idaho.

Salary Range: $18.78-$20.87

Responsibilities:

· Accounts Receivable:

  • Perform accurate data entry for accounts receivable transactions, ensuring correct recording of financial information.

  • Resolve payment discrepancies found in entered data.

  • Use multiple software systems to receive payments and accurately allocate them to the corresponding database.

  • Monitor past-due invoices and work with program staff to punctually collect outstanding payments.

  • Maintain and update ledgers, logs, and batch documents to support accounts receivable functions and processes.

    · Research:

  • Investigate and resolve payment discrepancies by contacting customers and program staff to apply payments correctly when necessary information is missing.

  • Conduct research on accounting systems and records to identify and correct errors in financial transactions.

  • Monitor unapplied cash and work to resolve any outstanding issues.

  • Utilize financial data to support accurate error resolution and maintain accuracy in financial reporting.

    · Cross-Departmental Coordination:

  • Notify program staff of received payments and provide regular reports on outstanding payments (quarterly, yearly, or as requested).

  • Collaborate with various departments to ensure they have up-to-date information regarding accounts receivable and payment processing.

  • Communicate with internal teams to provide updates on payment statuses, and work to resolve discrepancies efficiently.

    · Other Duties:

  • Perform additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor to ensure smooth financial operations across the agency.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Good knowledge of financial record keeping methods. Typically gained by completion of two college accounting courses and at least one year of or experience OR completion of one college accounting course and at least two years of work experience OR at least three years of work experience OR a bachelor's degree in accounting OR a bachelor's degree in business with at least 20 semester credits in accounting.

    • Experience researching and compiling financial information and preparing summaries and reports AND using personal computers to enter, retrieve, and edit financial data. Typically gained by completion of at least two computer courses on electronic spreadsheets / accounting software OR at least one year of work experience using this software.

    Physical Requirements:

    • Ability to sit and work on a computer for 2-4 hours at a time.

    • Some periods of heavy reading and typing are required.
