McDermott Pre-Commissioning Engineer in Boden, Sweden
Job Overview:
The Pre-Commissioning Engineer r eports to the Pre-commissioning Manager and assist planning and execution of safe and efficient pre-commissioning activities to achieve Mechanical Completion in the Cold Mill and Hot Mill. Support the Client for the Commissioning, Start-up, and Performance Testing of the facility to achieve the production and performance objectives and contractual objectives. Work collaboratively within the Project team and with Client to maintain positive relationships. Participates in the development of pre-commissioning home office deliverables for the project. Participates in the development of systemization and system boundary mark-ups. Participates in engineering design reviews as assigned by the Pre-Commissioning Manager including HAZOP, P&ID’s, SIL and Model reviews. Participates in the development of activity schedules for pre-commissioning, commissioning and start-up.
The project is in the Green Steel Market and the position may commence in The Hague office before transferring to Site at Boden, Sweden.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
Participates in the development of pre-commissioning, procedures
Participates in the development of spares, subcontracts, consumables, temporary equipment and vendor services
Interfaces heavily with the completions team, construction and Client personnel regarding all aspects of site inspections and testing for pre-commissioning, commissioning and start-up activities
Supervises the assigned pre-commissioning team personnel, subcontractors and Client personnel in the execution of pre-commissioning activities in a safe, efficient and successful manner
Works closely with the Construction group for installation completion inspections and accepting the completed works as deemed ready for pre-commissioning.
Participates in the Completion walkdowns, punch-list development and clearing of punch-list items by the Construction group or the subcontractor
Provides input to the “lesson learned” database
Provides input to the Close Out Report at the completion of the project
Essential Qualifications and Education:
5+ yrs in oil and gas with major contractor or consultant
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Engineering
Preferably possess a degree or diploma or equivalent in engineering
Have a minimum of 5 years’ commissioning experience in the oil & gas, chemical process, or steel industry
Familiarization with the steel manufacturing process and equipment would be an advantage
Able to effectively communicate technical solutions and concepts to other engineers and non-engineers
Must have good computer software skills in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio
Must have good organizational skills and be adaptable to the needs of various discipline groups
Must have the ability to assess and communicate project requirements and expectations in a clearly defined, positive and productive manner
Proficiency in English, Multi-Language skills a plus
Valid Driver’s License for Site in Sweden
Requires in-depth understanding of concepts, principles and practices in commissioning, completions and training as well as basic knowledge of other functions, such as construction and operations & maintenance.
Applies understanding of the industry to improve effectiveness
