Research Laboratory Technician
The University of Miami/UHealth Department of Neurology has an exciting opportunity for a Full Time Research Laboratory Technician to work in Boca Raton. The Research Laboratory Technician aids scientists in their experiments by monitoring and recording their findings. Moreover, the Research Laboratory Technician ensures laboratory compliance with applicable safety regulations.
Cleans, sanitizes, maintains, and operates laboratory equipment.
Proof reads and assists in the writing of manuscripts, grant proposals, and lab protocols.
Performs research by completing simple experiments or steps in more complicated studies.
Collect and process biological samples (plasma, serum, saliva following standardized protocols);
Perform phlebotomy on research participants
Collect saliva samples from research participants
Ensures all research is undertaken according to good research practice and guidance
Utilize centrifuges to process samples and aliquot for storage or shipping.
Record data into Laboratory Management System and research database.
Maintain inventory of laboratory equipment and supplies and place orders in a timely fashion.
Clean, sanitize, maintain, and operate laboratory equipment.
Keep records of research data and assists in analyzing it.
Prepare reports of experiment results.
Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS:
High School diploma or equivalent required
Minimum 1 year of relevant experience
Preferred Certified phlebotomist
Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes:
Skill in phlebotomy
Enjoy working with mid-life and older adults
Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.
Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines.
Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.
