Position Summary:

Florida Atlantic University is seeking an Emergency Management Coordinator (Mitigation & Recovery) - Boca Raton, FL.

This position reports to the Director of Emergency Management. This position provides coordination, support, and assistance with all emergency management program elements, operations and initiatives for the University. This position supports FAU's Department of Emergency Management before, during, and after all emergencies and incidents. The Emergency Management Coordinator may also supervise volunteers in the Department of Emergency Management.

Summary of Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates the development of comprehensive mitigation, continuity, business continuity, and recovery program elements that align with emergency management strategies to support the continuation and resumption of critical functions in accordance with federal, state, and local guidelines and professional standards.

  • Conducts comprehensive assessments to identify the University's susceptibility to various emergencies, with a focus on implementing preemptive measures to minimize impact.

  • Coordinates the formulation of dynamic business continuity plans that ensure the uninterrupted continuation of critical University functions. This includes crafting, revising, and advocating for comprehensive continuity strategies that align with overarching emergency management objectives.

  • Coordinate the recovery planning process to restore and rebuild University operations and infrastructure post-disaster. This involves the development of recovery plans, policies, and procedures that facilitate a swift return to normalcy and the enhancement of future resilience.

  • Coordinates the implementation of continuity, business continuity, and recovery strategies with key stakeholders.

  • Coordinates with the appropriate University units and (internal and external) stakeholders to identify and apply for grants.

  • Assists with coordinating assessments and surveys related to the University's susceptibility to natural, technological, and man-made disasters.

  • Works collaboratively with other members of the Department of Emergency Management to coordinate training and exercises related to mitigation, continuity, business continuity, and recovery program items.

  • Coordinates with other members of the Department of Emergency Management to drive public outreach and educational initiatives to enhance mitigation, continuity, and recovery preparedness among students, staff, and other stakeholders.

  • Acts as a liaison on internal and external groups, committees, and teams related to mitigation, continuity, and recovery.

  • Serves as a member of the University's Emergency Operations Team and is considered essential personnel and is required to be present, work remotely, or on-call during emergencies or disasters.

  • Assists with the coordination with the FAU Emergency Operations Center and associated emergency staff and facilitates the coordination of emergency support functions by the University, local, public, state, and federal agencies, and entities.

  • Performs other job-related duties as necessary.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization; or a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience required.

Preferred Qualifications/Skills:

Master's Degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and three or more years of relevant experience in emergency management/business continuity.

Higher education experience

Salary:

$60,000 per year.
