Basic Job Functions:
Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times. The Logistics Coordinator role involves overseeing the end-to-end logistics process, from vendor management and strategic planning to performance analysis and continuous improvement initiatives. The Logistics Coordinator will also be responsible for, but are not limited to collaborating with production, quality, commercial, and supply chain teams to ensure accurate and on-time product deliveries, addressing any potential challenges proactively. Developing and implementing robust logistics strategies that ensure on-time, efficient order fulfillment across multiple locations, consistently meeting or exceeding monthly KPIs. Lead initiatives to enhance logistics efficiency, focusing on improving processes, reducing costs, and enhancing overall service delivery. Track and analyze logistics performance metrics, identifying key areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions as necessary. Manage relationships with external logistics providers, negotiating favorable rates, and ensuring high service standards. Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, providing timely updates on delivery schedules and resolving any issues to ensure satisfaction. Negotiate contracts with freight carriers, optimize rates, monitor budgets, and identify opportunities for revenue growth and cost savings. Data Analysis & Reporting: Maintain and analyze logistics data to assess performance, set goals, and track progress towards operational objectives.
This position may be required to work holidays and weekends as needed. Travel may also be essential on a minimal basis.
Minimum Requirements:
4+ years Business Administration experience, or a related field
4+ years logistics experience in truck, rail, and/or barge industries
2+ years of class 1 railroad experience through BNSF and/or other domestic railroads.

Initiative/Innovative: Being proactive with seeking out work that needs to be done and being willing to take on responsibilities and challenges to include introducing new ideas for the continuous improvement of the work area.
Logistics and Transportation : Knowledge of principles and methods for supply chain management, including the relative costs and benefits.
Preferences:
Proficiency in logistics (TMS) software, ERP, Microsoft Office, and AS400 systems
Certifications in logistics or supply chain management
Steel industry experience
