About the Role

HomeSafe Alliance is seeking a detail-oriented Senior Accountant to support the accounting function and help ensure the effectiveness and efficiency of operations, the reliability of financial reporting, and compliance with applicable laws and regulations. The Senior Accountant will be responsible for key aspects of general ledger accounting, including journal entry preparation, account reconciliations, and month-end close activities. This role will also assist in maintaining the company’s internal control framework and contribute to the ongoing improvement of financial processes and systems in alignment with Sarbanes-Oxley requirements. This position reports to the Sr. Manager of Accounting and works closely with cross-functional teams to support internal control and compliance efforts.

Responsibilities :

  • Assist with the monthly close process preparing or approving month-end journal entries and participate in resolving potential issues and communicating any possible close-related delays

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (AP, AR, FP&A) to ensure accurate and timely reporting of financial data, while adhering to internal deadlines and corporate policies

  • Perform monthly and quarterly balance sheet account reconciliations ensuring timely, adequate, and complete reconciliations with adequate explanations for any variances that may exist

  • Maintain and ensure the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles

  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance accounting operations, and reporting accuracy

  • Assist in the evaluation and design of internal controls with business unit management; identify opportunities to streamline processes, increase automation and rationalize controls

  • Work closely and coordinate with Internal Audit in the overall testing of controls

  • Serve as the primary point of contact between internal/external auditors and internal business process owners

  • Coordinate audit PBC deliverables and ensure timely, accurate responses for both quarterly reviews and annual audits

  • Participate in end-to-end process walkthroughs, develop and maintain comprehensive business process documentation (narratives, flowcharts, risk/control matrices), and identify risk/control gaps to ensure strong governance and accountability

  • Assess and document control deficiencies in collaboration with business owners. Drive timely and effective remediation efforts, ensuring root causes are addressed and solutions are sustainable

  • Perform various ad-hoc analyses and other duties as assigned by management

Education and Experience:

  • Undergraduate degree in accounting, finance or related field.

  • 5+ years general ledger accounting experience, SOX compliance and/or Internal Audit experience with a public company, Big Four experience preferred

  • CPA (or working towards CPA), CIA, CISA designation preferredStrong understanding of GAAP, FAR, CAS and DCAA regulations

  • Understanding of COSO Audit Framework.

  • Experience with evaluating control design, operating effectiveness, and strong understanding of how to support testing results

  • Must be a U.S. citizen due to contractual requirements

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :

  • Strong attention to planning and organization

  • Ability to prioritize various projects and be able to manage expectations

  • Proactive and can project manage from beginning to end with minimal oversight

  • Ability to work with cross-functional team members at all levels of management and has strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative personality

  • Highly motivated, independent with excellent written and verbal communication

Note : This position is fully remote / work from home. HomeSafe will supply appropriate equipment, employee provided high speed internet is required.
