The Manufacturing Operations Lead role is a key senior site leadership position with overall responsibility for a Manufacturing Business Unit within our Bournville Plant, the home of Cadbury’s. This a key leadership role and will require coaching and motivation of staff at multiple levels to ensure effective delivery of the daily performance through the alignment of resources (people, plant and process) to meet defined KPIs and Operational targets. He/she identifies continuous improvement and loss elimination opportunities and influences the implementation.

Reporting to the Plant Director, you will create, own and develop the manufacturing plant area and be responsible for the translation of the Global and Regional KPI’s into the activities that provide your framework of operation and improvement for you and your team. Supported by your motivational leadership and relentless desire for everyday great delivery and execution, you drive a team ethic that at its core is passionate for continual improvement.

This role is key in driving the IL6S agenda, throughout the manufacturing plant, and cross functionally, with other key areas of the business. A key element of this is the development of a strong process and continuous improvement culture is expected through building the capabilities of the teams within the section across the whole SQCDSM agenda. You put people at the centre of the operation. Main Responsibilities

  • Be the Safety Leader for the section by the active support and role modelling of Safety, Security and Environment (SSE) programmes and reinforce safe behaviour of production team members. Ensure that all products comply with Mondelez Europe product specifications. Ensure that all Quality Policies and Safety regulations are in place, understood, monitored and followed by corrective actions.

  • Accountable for the Sections operational and financial performance in line with annual operating plan commitment.

  • Demonstrate and deliver strong financial control, compliance and improvement, through a proactive approach with regards to the total cost of manufacturing and conversion cost budgeting (DVL, ODVE, Fixed Cost & Waste).

  • Adherence to budget figures approved by Mondelez Europe, tracking, reporting and correcting of deviations will form a significant part of the role and your focus will ensure the section has the most cost effective production process, while meeting the production schedule with best quality at lowest possible costs in order to achieve maximum customer satisfaction.

  • Responsibility for identifying, evaluating and delivering improvements on productivity and efficiency targets. Responsible for overall lines’ efficiency, yield, rework, overweight, scrap, line manning and production volume.

  • Deliver according to production plan in line with conversion costs, loss rate and recipes. Responsible for production planning and scheduling following the demand requirements defined by Mondelez Europe’s S&OP (Sales & Operational Planning) process.

  • Responsible for materials management, replenishment of materials and achievement of raw and packaging inventory targets as defined by Mondelez Europe.

  • Lead the Section team throughout all the phases of overall Site Improvement Roadmaps today and in the future by creation of the section roadmap and engagement and alignment of the team in its delivery.

  • To enable this, you will ensure appropriate levels of training and development are in place to maintain business critical capability skills whilst developing individuals and teams to support personal growth and section maturity plans.

  • Bear overall responsibility for establishing team culture by providing clear understanding of the requirements for the Business IL6S CI and Lean Manufacturing culture (eg KPWS organisation, Total Preventive Maintenance (TPM), behaviours, attitude and culture). Communicate plans and information to section teams, track and challenge progress follow through on all commitments.

  • Deliver operational and financial improvements through the consistent challenge of machine and machine standards, work processes and systems. You will identify profit margin enhancing opportunities, develop business benefit scenarios and through effective utilisation of CI processes and disciplines, implement improvement projects.

  • Acting as a change agent you will lead the section and influence the site team to develop the operational teams to achieve levels of ability, knowledge and independence (autonomy) that leverages team working and flexibility.

  • Through the effective deployment of all IL6S programmes and practices, deliver step change improvements to eliminate losses in all aspects of the balanced agenda (SQCDSM).

Candidate Requirements

  • Required

  • Degree level equivalent education in Manufacturing or Engineering.

  • Manufacturing systems (SAP), good PC literacy (MS Office).

  • Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, IL6S, TPM experience.

  • Strong people management skills, communication skills. Ability to lead and engage employees at all levels

  • Drive for results: can be counted on to exceed goals successfully, steadfastly pushes self and others for results.

  • Handling complexity, problem solving, analytical and conceptual skills.

  • Business acumen, good planning and project management skills.

  • Target setting for respective KPI.

  • Effective use of assets.

  • Determine facts & figures and create a section budget.

  • Set-up of corrective actions in case of deviations.

  • Identification of main cost drivers for further productivity potential.

  • Provide clear understanding of the requirements for the Continuous Improvement Process.

  • Experience of working in a High Performing team work culture, embraces the essence of servant leadership and actively demonstrates a Learn Do Teach approach.

  • Considerable experience in Manufacturing environment (Production, Maintenance, Engineering preferred, Section Shift Manager experiences highly recommended).

  • Experience of managing function or team.
