Job Description
Summary: The main function of a medical laboratory technician is to perform routine medical laboratory tests for the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease. This role typically works under the supervision of a medical technologist.
Responsibilities
Set up, adjust, maintain, and clean medical laboratory equipment.
Analyze the results of tests and experiments to ensure conformity to specifications using special mechanical and electrical devices.
Analyze, gather, and record test data to issue reports that use charts, graphs, and narratives.
Obtain specimens, cultivate, isolate, and identify microorganisms for analysis.
Examine cells stained with dye to locate abnormalities.
Consult with a pathologist to determine a final diagnosis when abnormal cells are found.

Additional Skills & Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required.
Associate's degree in medical technology or vocational training preferred.
0-2 years of experience in the field.
Generalist Experience (will only have to learn 2 departments).
Experience in medical laboratory, MLT.
Work Environment
The position is in a hospital setting. The work hours are Monday-Friday from 1:00 PM to 10:30 PM with rotating every other weekend. The hospital uses Cerner but is in the process of building Epic; knowledge of these systems is not required. The employer will work with candidates to place them in a department they are most comfortable in (Core Lab, Microbiology, or Blood Bank).
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $27.10 - $27.10/hr.
