Robert Half Accounts Payable Specialist in Birmingham, Alabama
Description
We are looking for an Accounts Payable Specialist to join our team in Birmingham, Alabama. This Accounts Payable Specialist role is a HYBRID position that requires at least 1-2 days of work on site in Birmingham. Candidates must be commutable to Birmingham to be considered for this position. In this contract to permanent position, you will manage various aspects of the payables process, ensuring accuracy and adherence to established policies. This role requires a proactive individual with strong organizational skills who can handle accounting discrepancies and provide support across multiple functions.
Responsibilities:
• Oversee the payables process while following established accounts payable policies and procedures.
• Act as the primary contact for resolving accounting discrepancies
• Reconcile accounts in compliance with internal control guidelines to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
• Submit all accounts payable invoices for processing and maintain accurate records.
• Manage recurring payments and payables, ensuring proper documentation and processing.
• Provide training to staff on proper accounting and accounts payable procedures.
• Handle month-end close processes
• Submit vendor payables to the accounts payable team for timely processing.
Requirements
• Associate’s degree or equivalent education and training in accounting or a related field.
• Previous experience in an accounting role, preferably with exposure to accounts payable.
• Familiarity with accounting software systems and enterprise resource planning (ERP) tools.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively resolve discrepancies.
