Robert Half Accounting Manager in Birmingham, Alabama

Description

We are seeking an Accounting Manager based in Birmingham, Alabama. This role revolves around the real-estate industry, with a focus on accounting software systems and auditing. The position offers a short-term contract employment opportunity.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee and manage the general accounting functions, including but not limited to: accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and taxes

• Manage and supervise accounting department employees; responsible for day-to-day supervision and leadership

• Maintain and oversee all accounting procedures and processes

• Follow and comply with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) for financial statements

• Record and research all financial information for analysis

• Oversee budget reports, preparation of budgets, and analysis of budgets

• Advise on procedures and financial management as well as developing policies

• Oversee financial reports for stockholders, taxes, regulatory agencies, and other financial groups relating to the company's fiscal performance

• Design and implement systems to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations

• Stay current with the latest technologies and trends in accounting, modern finance, and management

• Ensure all accounting activities and internal audits comply with financial regulations

• Consult with senior executives on strategic planning and overall company performance

• Direct financial planning and strategy

• Analyze and report on financial performance

• Oversee human resource management

• Prepare financial reports

• Oversee operations and changes to systems

Requirements • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of accounting principles and procedures

• Proven experience as an Accounting Manager or similar role in finance management

• Proficiency in using Accounting Software Systems

• Familiarity with auditing procedures and compliance regulations

• Possess strong leadership skills with the ability to manage a team effectively

• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

• Strong analytical skills and problem-solving abilities

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks according to business needs

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly advanced Excel skills

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required

• Professional certification such as CPA is highly desirable

• Proven track record of driving process improvements and internal controls in accounting

• High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation.
