ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The intent of this Position Description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by employees holding this position. Employees may be requested to perform position-related tasks in addition to those specifically presented in this description.
Personnel and the Public
- Supervises, schedules, trains, provides safety training, coaches and evaluates employee performance of driver(s), volunteers and all non-employee individuals.
- Provides input in selecting, terminating, compensation and promotion decisions.
- Documents and signs off on community service volunteers' hours.
- Answers questions from residential and commercial customers, employees, volunteers, and all non-employee individuals.
Maintenance
- Oversees and ensures the proper safety and maintenance of center equipment
- Develops, implements and maintains a preventive maintenance plan. Equipment includes, but is not limited to: balers, forklift, truck, glass crusher, and shredder
- Maintains physical building and grounds in a clean and orderly manner. This includes, but is not limited to, general cleaning and organization, mowing/trimming lawn, snow removal/salting, and periodically cleaning and repairing carts.
- When needed and authorized by the Board, constructs cart shelters for new commercial customers.
Materials
- Assists in baling incoming recyclable materials from commercial accounts and residential customers.
- Moves baled materials and full gaylord boxes either into storage trailers/dock, into secondary building, or into vendor trailers.
- Monitors materials levels to schedule timely vendor pickups. Monitors supplies to request replacements and/or restocking.
- Conducts "live loads" as needed of vendor trailers.
Miscellaneous
- Assists the box truck driver on commercial pick-ups.
- May assist with future remote drop off locations.
- Tolerate hot or cold warehouse conditions.
- Attends monthly board meetings
- Clean driving record required. Fork lift experience preferred.
