Messer stands apart because we put what matters first, and you matter. Principal Responsibilities Lead safety activities related to the drivers and mechanics within the region. Leading by example and application of Behavioral Safety tenants will be important factors for success. Champion all regional HSEQ Activity - Safety Meetings, Safety Talks, Behavioral Safety, Intelex, IMS and IMSS. Lead implementation of global/national/regional HSEQ programs and initiatives Ensure consistent application of tools, processes, standards, policies, and procedures across the region and between regions as a member of the Area Transport Managers Peer Team. Ensure consistency in application of driver pay policies. Maintain a regional staffing strategy and plan to ensure required driver and equipment resources are available to support the regional supply strategy and on-going supply plans. Establish a driver hiring and retention program for the region. Support the Zone Transport Managers in hiring and retaining drivers and mechanics. Attract, hire, and provide professional development opportunities for Zone Transport management in the region. Provide labor relations and unit bargaining support for the region, ensuring consistency in approach within the region and across regions. Achieve continuous customer supply and operational efficiency metrics in conjunction with the Scheduling and Central Transport Management teams. Coordinate with the Supply Chain Planning and Scheduling teams to provide timely information, feedback, and data regarding planned and unplanned network shifts. Provide input into the annual budgeting process for capital investment planning, and regional operational inputs required to develop the annual plan. Develop location and regional budgets on an annual basis. Monitor costs at a local and regional level to maintain an efficient transportation operation. Organize and lead annual wage reviews. Develop and implement Productivity Improvement Projects to further improve key productivity indicators Lead cross functional collaboration to resolve all Non-Conforming Customer Site providing safe work environment for all employees Qualifications Bachelor's degree required Minimum of 7 years' experience in a supervisory role with three or more years involving transportation processes Functional skills: Negotiation skills [including negotiation and management of union contracts] Six Sigma facilitation skills - use of data driven decision making and the ability to support and champion six sigma projects Managerial skills: People management - experience managing personnel responsible for delivering Messer products to customers and demonstrated ability to encourage personnel to provide superior customer service in a team environment. Management through influence - working cross-functionally to achieve results in a lean environment Strong computer system aptitude and ability to use data to drive decisions Strong communication skills, supervisory experience in union environments highly desired Knowledge of DOT, OSHA and Hazmat regulations Certified Six Sigma Black Belt or green belt a plus About Messer:
