New York University Part-Time Lecturer: German Language & Culture in Berlin, Germany

New York University (NYU) Berlin is seeking a part-time lecturer to teach a course entitled "Composition and Conversation" in the Fall 2024 semester.

The four-credit seminar is designed for post-intermediate students of German with a solid grasp of German grammar and vocabulary. Students enrolled in this course wish to extend their knowledge of the German language, history, and culture through reading, watching films, taking part in discussion, and writing. "Composition & Conversation" is a reading and writing intensive course. Emphasis is placed on refining written expression and developing the ability to discuss and argue opinions, as well as a regular and thorough review of grammar. Themes and focus of the course should be broad; the syllabus will be designed by the lecturer together with NYU Berlin and NYU's German Studies department. We look forward to reading about your ideas for the course in your cover letter. The course is open to students from all disciplines.

Candidates should be passionate about teaching, have a broad academic outlook and the ability to cater to the individual needs of the students.

The course is taught entirely in German, runs from August 29 to December 12, and meets twice a week on NYU Berlin’s campus. The sessions are a mixture of discussions, lectures and co-curricular activities organized together with the German Language Program.
