Job Description Summary

This opening is for a Staff Engineer - Mechanical Design - Airfoils in GE9X HPC module within GE9X Engineering section at GE Aerospace Bangalore Engineering Center.

Activities contributing to the design and development of products, solutions and systems. Includes activities linked to technical improvement of existing products and components. You will be required to work collaboratively with a cross-functional team including but not limited to Supply chain, Assembly, Systems, Programs, Manufacturing Programs, Quality, Repairs, PSE, Materials and other functional teams to achieve the desired outcome for the module.

Site Overview

Established in 2000, the John F. Welch Technology Center (JFWTC) in Bengaluru is our multidisciplinary research and engineering center. Engineers and scientists at JFWTC have contributed to hundreds of aviation patents, pioneering breakthroughs in engine technologies, advanced materials, and additive manufacturing.

Role Overview:

  • Execute the design, analysis, evaluation of High Pressure Compressor airfoils for GE9X program using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements.

  • Execute design and analysis activities for airfoils of High Pressure compressor module for GE9X program working on, but not limited to, non-conformances of parts in shop, performance improvements, durability and producibility improvements. Lead technical projects with moderate to high complexity through collaboration.

  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to less experienced engineers.

  • Provide engineering support, within one’s specialty, to teams working on performance, durability, cost reduction and quality initiatives. Developing in-depth knowledge of a technical discipline. Uses prior experience and acquired technical expertise to execute policy/strategy.

  • Leverage expertise to resolve problems in the field or during the manufacturing processes.

  • Make recommendations after analysis of the data using quality tools

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors /Masters/PhD in Mechanical Engineering specialization with strong academic track record.

  • Experience in Aviation Engines or Turbo machinery Design, in the role of design/hardware ownership position with a minimum experience of 10 years.

  • Strong engineering problem solving capabilities.

  • Strong project management skills including cross-functional coordination of activities.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization both internally and externally.

  • Ability and willingness to travel as required.
