Software Senior Engineer - Dell R&D India

About Business Unit:

The Software Engineering team delivers next-generation software application enhancements and new products for a changing world. Working at the cutting edge, we design and develop software for platforms, peripherals, applications and diagnostics — all with the most advanced technologies, tools, software engineering methodologies and the collaboration of internal and external partners.

Role Responsibilities

  • Working with external partners and internal Dell technology, marketing and engineering teams to define and architect solutions related to Digital Delivery, Web Services, telemetry and analytics

  • Identifying and working with software and hardware partners to assess cloud technologies and roadmaps for inclusion in future solutions

  • Being the technical expert and resource for the overall cloud solutions, data management and/or analytics

  • Performs analysis and design for medium-sized to large or complex development and maintenance projects

  • Possesses and applies advanced knowledge of technology principles, best practices, and procedures to the completion of complex software development assignments

  • Ensures that all code, configuration data, and system documentation is accurate, complete, understandable, and adheres to company standards

  • Address security vulnerabilities by using tools to assure security, analyze outputs, and recommend corrective actions

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience with “big data” platforms and tools including data ingestion (batch & real time) and transformation (Hadoop, Hive, Map Reduce, Kafka, Spark, Elasticsearch)

  • Hands on experience with Data Ingestion platforms like Streamsets, Azure Data Factory, Informatica, Apache Ni-Fi

  • Hands-on experience with database and analytical technology platforms like MPP (Teradata, SQL DW), SQL Server and NoSQL databases (Cosmos DB, HBase, Cassandra)

  • Hands on experience with Data transformation technology platforms like Spark, Python, Scala, R, Hive, SQL

  • Hands on experience with OLAP technologies like Microsoft analysis services, Atscale (ROLAP and MOLAP) is a plus

  • Track record of leading implementation projects

  • Familiar with executing Agile projects

  • Strong verbal and written communications skills are a must, as well as the ability to lead effectively across internal and external organizations and virtual teams.

Preferences

  • BE/BTech (CS/EE/EC) and 9+ years of relevant experience or MS/Mtech/ME (CS/EE/EC) and 7+ years of relevant experience

  • Experience with Jenkins, Hudson, Bamboo, TeamCity, and other Continuous Integration tools

  • Understanding the git source control system like GitHub, Stash etc.

  • Familiarity with Continuous Integration/Deployment tools

  • Strong understanding of software development lifecycle and product development lifecycle like Agile
