Wells Fargo Lead CIB Portfolio Manager in Bengaluru, India
About this role:
Wells Fargo is seeking an Individual Contributor who will be accountable for partnering with US-based teams in portfolio management activities, including regular monitoring of the assigned deals by tracking underlying collateral performance, reviewing borrowing base calculations and testing covenant compliance, amongst others. The work responsibility also entails performing quarterly credit reviews of clients to understand their ability to service existing deals, as well as assist onshore partners in preparing annual credit reviews and financial analysis for origination memos on need basis. The successful candidate will collaborate and work closely with ABS’ India leadership team and key stakeholders based in the US. The role provides significant opportunities to learn, develop, be an enabler, undertake new initiatives and become a core/integral member of the team.
In this role, you will:
Lead complex initiatives, including those that are companywide with broad impact
Act as key participant in large scale planning for Corporate Banking Portfolio Management functional area
Review and research complex multifaceted, large scale, and long term business challenges within Corporate Banking Portfolio Management functional area that require in-depth evaluation of multiple factors including intangibles or unprecedented factors
Make decisions in complex and multifaceted situations requiring exceptional understanding of the function, policies, procedures, and compliance requirements that influence and lead a broader work team to meet deliverables and drive new initiatives
Collaborate and consult with peers, colleagues, and mid level to more experienced managers to resolve issues and achieve goals
Lead projects, teams, or serve as a peer mentor
Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years of Experience in CIB Portfolio Management, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
Required Qualifications for Europe, Middle East & Africa only:

Desired Qualifications:
At least a B.Com/M.Com or an equivalent qualification. MBA, CA, CFA / FRM or an equivalent qualification would be a plus.
At least 9 to 12 years’ experience in credit analysis/underwriting of corporates/FIG clients, structured finance, or debt capital markets. 1 to 2 years of Securitization and / or ABS markets related experience and exposure is desirable.
In-depth understanding of financial statements and accounting policies (IFRS/ GAAP etc.) of large corporates and/or financial institutions with ability to comprehend key risks.
Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel & PowerPoint): Advanced knowledge of excel, VBA, python, macros, etc. would be a plus.
Experience in change management, transformation projects, process efficiency, etc. would be an added advantage.
Strong communication skills – both verbal and written. Ability to speak articulately and strong business writing skills.
High level of personal motivation, strong interpersonal skills, and ability to multitask across contents in an evolving environment.
Proven track record in training and developing junior team members.
Must be comfortable working independently and as part of a team, leading projects and taking initiatives.
Must be flexible to work in EMEA/partial US shift as per business requirements.
Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
Reviewing monthly servicer/collateral reports received from clients for completeness & accuracy of information and monitor underlying collateral performance including adherence to borrowing base, covenants, deal triggers, tracking & reporting financial trends of servicer/borrowers and ensuring the facility continue to perform in accordance with the terms of the credit agreement. Preparing quarterly surveillance decks summarizing above key information and terms for the entire ABS portfolio.
Financial spreading and performing quarterly credit analysis of the clients with detailed credit write-up of both public and non-public companies. The credit write-up includes business (operating), industry, and financial analysis (including forward-looking liquidity, debt schedule and performance to plan analysis) to assess the creditworthiness of borrower/servicer/parent while keeping track of the latest developments in the assigned asset classes.
Assisting US-based partners in preparing and drafting of annual credit reviews, as well as providing need-based support in conducting financial analysis for pipeline deals.
Preparing tearsheets to evaluate financial performance of the lessees (counterparties to WF borrowers) based on top exposure concentration within the aircraft and shipping/ container portfolio.
Performing Basel submissions for all the covered deals by capturing the data against the required Basel variables in an in-house portal on a quarterly basis.
Training & mentoring junior team members and taking ownership of reviewing, & oversight responsibilities. Collaborating and consulting with colleagues and managers to achieve team goals.
Becoming a subject matter expert and go-to person for the assigned asset classes.
Initiating, leading, and driving transformation/efficiency/process improvement projects, including those with broader impact.
Contributing to talent acquisition, retention and assisting managers in building the career path for the junior team members.
Stepping-up and preparing oneself to act as a back-up to the managers in various management-related deliverables including capacity planning, portfolio allocation, resource mapping, maintaining various databases, preparing management decks, helping in stakeholder management, amongst others.
