SCS Engineers Staff Engineer in Bellevue, Washington

What we are looking for We are seeking a staff -level engineer in our Bellevue, Washington office to perform a variety of office and field activities to support our environmental and solid waste clients. The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated, quick learner who is eager to provide value to our clients and team, who is able to work independently, and who has a strong desire to grow and develop professionally. Expect approximately equal percent field to office work, with occasional overnight travel. Must be able to lift and manage field equipment weighing up to 40 pounds. How you can make an impact Prepare and assist with reports, permit applications and/or regulatory agency submittals and responses with supporting documentation as requested. Prepare text, tabulated data, charts, graphs, sketches and/or figures. Prepare calculations for applications and reports and in support of design documents, including applicable modeling, as requested. Coordinate with CAD drafters/designers for design plans/figures or uses AutoCAD for basic design plans/ figures. Complete quality control reviews on all work products (reports, design plans, design calculations, data, etc.) prior to submission to ensure completeness and conformance to requirements. Collect samples from hazardous and non-hazardous sites, including: soil, air, surface water, groundwater, vegetation, leachate, subsurface soil vapors, and landfill gas. Conduct and document construction quality assurance observations to ensure compliance with construction documents. Record data during field work, which could include, but is not limited to: soil characteristics, lithology, groundwater or surface water data, vegetation inventory, air monitoring data, photographs, or summaries of visual observations through photograph and written field logs in accordance with standard operating procedures. Oversee drilling activities involving monitoring well installation, borehole logging, well development, gas extraction wells, and sampling. Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, regulators and clients as directed. Participate in health and safety training as required. Ensure adherence to client and company policies in all activities including health and safety, security, ethics, and confidentiality. Qualifications A Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering preferred. Bachelor's degree in Engineering required. Engineer-in-Training (EIT) preferred. 2 years of relevant experience. Preferred experience in the following areas: Solid waste management Civil engineering design, especially grading and drainage (landfill gas engineering design is a plus) AutoCAD Civil 3D and GIS Environmental consulting Strong written and verbal communication, skills, including the ability to transmit complex technical concepts to non-technical clients. Excellent documentation, organizational and interpersonal skills with an attention to detail. Ability to work independently in the field at job sites, and with others in a collaborative team environment, along with the ability to work on multiple simultaneous projects with successful time management. Demonstrated ability to use Microsoft Office suite. Experience with database/graphics management a plus. Occupational Health and Safety Act (OSHA) Hazardous Waste Operations (HAZWOPER) 40-hour training desirable but training will be provided, if needed. Valid driver's license with a driving record in good standing is required.
