We do this through meticulous maintenance and critical equipment exercising which occurs around and during ongoing testing and showcase functions. We strive to be the SME for operationally integrating our customer's emerging technologies "in role" and in support of our many Engineering customers to provide maximum facilities availability with zero outages, flexible expansion for the future with minimal re-engineering and keep zero outages as a goal. Key deliverables are interacting with support teams both internal and external and with local contractors and vendors. Must ensure that facilities problems are identified and repaired quickly, that contractors deliver quality services, and that internal customer demands are met. A good engineer develops creative approaches to keep operational costs to a minimum, improve efficiency, maintain consistent operational procedures and help develop and help implement new strategies internally and with customers and service providers. Position will also be responsible for mentoring junior level personnel, lab customers and acting as an escalation and coordination point for questions and projects. This is an operational support position that requires rotating on call and occasional off hours support. Job Responsibilities: Operate, monitor, maintain, and respond to abnormal conditions in critical facilities systems. Areas include electrical, mechanical, building monitoring, fire systems, security systems, property management and control. Control and operationally manage a very diverse and technically complex facility infrastructure involving legacy, modern and emerging technologies for the role and supporting our customers emerging needs. Collaborate closely with CFE&I teams on tactical and strategic initiatives by providing operationally focused mentoring to enable opportunities in availability and long-term maintenance. Oversee all renovations and new construction in the building, including review of all drawings, specifications, bids and offers. Conduct daily inspections of buildings and grounds, initiate corrective action, and follow up to completion. Track and provide budget information on all building related expenses, and review invoices for accuracy. Provide weekly status reports to management analyzing trends, current capacities, observations and incidents. Also responsible for other Duties/Projects as assigned by business management as needed. Education: Bachelor's Degree Engineering, facilities, or related discipline or equivalent experience (Preferred) Work Experience: 4 - 7 yrs Experience in mechanical/HVAC, electrical, or a combination of the two. 4 - 7 yrs Experience in data center facilities operations, working with equipment mentioned above, preferably in the telecommunications industry. Experience supervising staff, vendors, or other personnel. Ability to coordinate and lead multi-team projects and initiatives to deliver on established business and department objectives. Ability to communicate intelligently and effectively with contractors who perform maintenance or upgrade work on these systems. Need
