Amazon Manager, Tech Program Mgmt, GES NA Ops Engineering in Bellevue, Washington

Description

We are looking for an entrepreneurial, technical, and senior-level manager to lead a key GES NA Ops Engineering pillar. This role includes leading long-term engineering strategy, project prioritization, annual Headcount planning, and the general management of the greater GES NA Ops Eng portfolio.

The optimal candidate should be experienced in managing cross-functional technical projects with network-wide impact. You will have a proven track record of planning and delivering complex programs with multi-year roadmap, using Agile and incremental delivery methods. You must have experience working on complex systems in a customer-centric environment, driven cross-group teams spread across multiple geographies and handled communication from technical developers to Senior VPs. As a tenured people manager, you will know how to build and grow a strong technical program team. We expect you to write strategic documents and influence large groups of senior stakeholders. You must be able turn ambiguous problems into simple solutions. A successful candidate for this possesses superb business judgment, a high degree of customer-obsession, has a track record of delivering results, is strong on collaboration, and is data driven.

Key job responsibilities

  • Lead a team of senior program managers, IDE’s and TPM’s

  • Work with Engineering, Operations, Finance, Procurement, and other GES Partners to deliver engineering solutions across NA

  • Manage complex cross team programs from ideation to delivery

  • Create transparency and predictability with roadmaps, planning, and partner management

  • Ensure goals are met on time and hitting our quality bar

  • Manage delivery schedules and emergent tasks while mitigating risks, managing tradeoffs, and eliminating blockers

  • Participate in design decisions, surfacing and mitigating technical risks, driving complex integrations with internal and 3rd party solutions, and identifying opportunity to create operational efficiencies

  • Set and embody the team culture and standards consistent with Amazon’s leadership principals

  • Drive alignment with leadership in Operations and other engineering teams across WW Ops

About the team

Technical Vendor Management (TVM) provides a single, strategic voice to MHE vendors in North America. Composed of the Vendor Development, Vendor Management, and Standards & Specs sub-pillars, the team enables vendor performance and project delivery success.

The team is open to hiring candidates based in the following locations: Bay Area, CA; Dallas, TX; Houston, TX; Austin, TX; Los Angeles Metro Area; Phoenix Metro Area; Arlington VA; Bellevue, WA; Seattle, WA; Boston Metro Area; Nashville, TN; New York City; Atlanta Metro Area; Chicago, IL

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of technical product or program management experience

  • 7+ years of working directly with engineering teams experience

  • 3+ years of vendor development experience

Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules

Bachelor's Degree

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of hands-on work managing complex technology projects experience

  • Experience managing projects across cross functional teams, building sustainable processes and coordinating release schedules

  • Master's Degree in Engineering, Business Management, or equivalent

  • Experience working with primary Amazon-approved MHE vendors

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $147,200/year in our lowest geographic market up to $254,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
