About the Water Team

Here in Ireland, with offices in Dublin, Cork and Belfast, our growing Water team boasts an extensive portfolio working on high profile, challenging projects, providing multidisciplinary solutions to water, wastewater, environment and flood management. From feasibility studies and planning, to design, construction management and operations and maintenance, we bring together the talent and expertise necessary to deliver success.

About the Opportunity

Jacobs has secured multiple multi-year contracts and projects with leading clients in Ireland, Northern Ireland, the wider UK, and across the globe. We currently have opportunities for Civil Engineer(s) experienced in the areas of flood management and river engineering to join our Water team. Successful candidates will join a team of over 150 professionals in Ireland, working on a range of high-profile projects and become a part of a World Leading Company with excellent career prospects.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone with extensive experience in the development and design of flood risk management and river engineering solutions to be involved in the development of a growing workstream with key clients.

You will join our Water team and will play an important role in supporting our diverse client base through the development of outline, planning, tender and detailed design projects and in mentoring and developing more junior staff, where appropriate.

Duties;

  • Design development and team leadership, where appropriate, including delivery of outline, planning, tender and detailed design of flood risk management and river engineering solutions

  • Support client engagement and sales opportunities across the Region

  • Design of: Earthwork embankments and conveyance channels; Reinforced concrete structures and foundations; Steelwork structures including piling; Flow control structures; Flood gates and demountable defences; Surface water drainage; Natural Flood Management solutions

  • Checking and reviewing calculations and technical deliverables

  • Production of Contracts and Technical specifications

  • Contributing to an engaged and supportive team environment with active involvement in supervising, mentoring and supporting staff

  • Ability to operate within a multi-disciplinary team

Here’s what you’ll need :

  • Degree in Civil Engineering or similar discipline.

  • Achieved, or working towards, Chartership Status with a recognised Professional Institution or equivalent

  • Experience or demonstrable knowledge of flood and river modelling software

  • Experience in the development of outline and detailed design solutions for flood risk management schemes and / or hydraulic or hydrology functions supporting design development.

  • Experience or knowledge of Safety in Design

  • Interest in or experience of staff management and development.

  • Experience of coordinating or operating within multi-disciplinary teams in the development of design solutions.
