AT&T Principal Member of Technical Staff in Bedminster, New Jersey

The Principal Member Technical Staff is responsible for software engineering associated with control loop systems and business automation platforms. This position requires assertive technical leadership, innovation and deep subject matter expertise in Service Assurance. This position will evaluate and introduce strategic technology to automate Service Assurance business processes as the AT&T network shifts from vertically integrated network devices sourced from a single vendor to a software defined network based on commodity hardware running virtualized network appliances from multiple vendors and containerized virtualized network functions. Work will involve the transformation of legacy systems and evolution to target architectures utilizing open-source software, public cloud platforms, e.g. Azure, and software as a service, e.g. ServiceNow.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct hands-on design and development work in the areas of new products/technologies, systems/platform architecture and design, hardware/software development engineering, technical security and QA Design/Certification.

  • Involved with new and emerging technologies and technical architectures on projects with a status between inception and implementation/software maturity.

  • Serve as subject matter expert during the continuous integration/continuous deployment cycle in a production environment focused on complex design, engineering and development.

Job Contribution: Expert level technical professional specializing the creation of secure software-based solutions to solve complex business problems encountered in the telecommunications and data networking industries. Advisor on technical knowledge and AT&T technologies.

Education & Experience: PhD in an approved field from an approved university with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience or Masters in an approved field from an approved university with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience or a Bachelors in an approved field from an approved university with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience.

Desired Skills:

  • Expert/Mastery of Java programming language and associated public libraries is required. Experience/proficiency with C, C++, Python and/or PERL is desired.

  • Experience/proficiency with Kubernetes, Docker, Jenkins, Git and techniques/methodologies associated with Continuous Integration/Continuous Development

  • Additional desired knowledge/experience: front end development experience (ReactJS, Angular, Node.js or Javascript); Apache Camel, Apache Karaf, Apache Kafka, Apache Web Server, RUBY on Rails, Node.js, DROOLS, REST, SOAP, Public Cloud (e.g. Azure)
