Oracle Solutions Manager, Hotel Strategy in Bedford, Massachusetts
Lead a team that acts as the central resource and driving force for the design, process, manufacturing, test, quality and marketing of product(s) as they move from conception to distribution. Organize interdepartmental activities ensuring completion of the project/product on schedule and within budget.
As a member of the product development division, you will analyze and integrate external customer specifications. Suggest and justify product directions and specifications. Specify, design and implement moderate changes to existing software architecture. Build new products and development tools. Build and execute unit tests and unit test plans. Review integration and regression test plans created by QA. Communicate with QA and porting engineering to discuss major changes to functionality.
Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization. Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 7 years of software engineering or related experience.

As a Solutions Manager, Hotel Strategy youwill have overall responsibility for successful development of OPERA Rates andAvailability Engine. This includes gathering overall industry and variouscustomer requirements and translating them into business strategy documents andspecifications. In addition, you will also be responsible for management of allphases of projects including timelines, testing and documentation. You will bringto the position a high level of energy, willingness to adapt to change, apassion to learn new technologies while delivering excellent customer service,and the ability to serve as an expert in this specialized product and market.
The ideal candidate will have anunderstanding of distribution, revenue management and/or reservations trends aswell as strategic and practical understanding of hospitality industry as awhole.
Manage relationships with key stakeholdersincluding ongoing communication through product development cycles
Respond to feature and functionality questionsfrom the various channels, including both internal/external customers andvendors
Provide pre-sales support including customerpresentations, meetings and high level design reviews
Maintain and publish demonstration environments
Stay engaged in industry trends and ongoingbusiness opportunities
Assist with the preparation of documentation includingrelease notes, newsletters, online help, etc.
Some travel required
Bachelor s degree and a minimum of one or moreof the following:
5-7 years hospitality industry or relatedexperience
Good computer/systems background: PC platforms,Windows Operating Systems, Oracle, SQL, MS Office applications
Interpret business requirements into writingclear requirement documents that are used for product development,
Preferred related applications knowledge forrepresented product and industry (i.e. OPERA, Central Systems
Familiarity with Distribution methodologies andOTA offerings, channel managers and web booking engines.
Previous experience working within amulti-cultural global software development project a plus
