Department Summary:

N141 is seeking a group leader to help rapidly develop and deploy cyber resilient solutions across the Air Force systems. As the Air Force has grown increasingly concerned about the expanding cyber threats to mission success, emphasis on resilient capabilities has become a major focus. The scope and sophistication of adversary threats make it a challenge to ensure our systems remain effective during the deployment, operation, and sustainment.

The Resilient Solutions Group Leader will be responsible for bridging the cyber security/resiliency and operator communities, assuring that our sponsor’s priorities and investments support the warfighter’s most urgent needs in a timely manner. The Air Force Operational Imperatives and priorities will drive our focus on specific weapon systems and supporting operational technology and mission critical infrastructure. This is an expanding area of work for N141 and represents an opportunity to grow our impact and our team.

This position requires excellent interpersonal skills to effectively supervise, develop, and manage technical staff. In addition, the candidate will ensure the delivery of quality technical products, conduct staff development and placement activities, and provide input into the growth of the department work program. They will also influence department and division outcomes, and lead division initiatives while engaging with internal and external customers to build and lead a strong technical work program.

The preferred location for this role is Bedford, MA, but could be supported from alternate locations that provide the necessary access to secure spaces and information sources at the TS/SCI level.

Job Description:

The successful candidate is expected to:

  • Serve as Direct Supervisor (DS) and provide leadership for group members while facilitating the professional and career development of group staff through coaching, instruction, and mentoring.

  • Provide timely and regular feedback to staff on performance and goal development.

  • Apply knowledge of cyber solutions and effects to promote the most impactful application of resources to address priority resiliency investments.

  • Build and maintain a strong work program and technically proficient staff to help the department pivot toward the cyber resiliency of Operational Technology (OT), Critical Infrastructure, and Industrial Control Systems (ICS).

  • Translate MITRE’s mission and strategy into operations, making it tangible and meaningful to group employees while contributing to the department goal to improve weapons systems/infrastructure resiliency.

  • Provide thought/technical leadership across the group and in collaboration with other GLs/PLs within the division.

Basic Qualifications

  • Demonstrated background in systems engineering and cyber security as applied to DoD weapon and mission support (OT/ICS) systems.

  • Track record of innovative thinking with a bias toward action.

  • Demonstrated ability to work with sponsors at a senior level to identify key technical challenges and opportunities.

  • Strong interpersonal skills as well as effective verbal and written communication skills

  • Understanding of AF missions and operations.

  • Secret clrearance

  • Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 6 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 3 years’ experience; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.

  • 5 years of experience in acquisition intelligence and/or cyber security and core technical areas (OT/ICS, Resilient Platforms, Trusted Systems, and Supply Chain Risk Management).

  • This position requires a minimum of 50% hybrid on-site

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Past leadership experience in task or resource management roles.

  • Familiarity with MITRE business tools, and particularly Clarity.

  • Strong knowledge of Air Force projects and portfolios, and broad knowledge of AF cyber operations.

  • Deep knowledge of cyber threats and analysis methods, and knowledge of intelligence community methods and products.

  • Familiarity with the cyber platform and MITRE research efforts in cyber resiliency and security.

  • Track record of innovative thinking.
