Job Summary
Join our team as a Water Plant Operator and play a vital role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our water treatment facilities. You'll be responsible for monitoring equipment, conducting water quality tests, and performing routine maintenance to ensure clean and safe water for our community. Performs all operating tasks involved in taking raw surface water and processing into a quality product. Performs preventive maintenance and minor mechanical and electrical repairs.
Duties
Assists all shift personnel on procedures and troubleshooting plant operations.
Tests water, records data and adjusts the treatment process accordingly.
Makes mechanical or electrical repairs on rotating equipment above and below grade.
Performs preventative maintenance to the plant equipment on a regular basis as assigned by making measured adjustments and replacing parts.
Receives and stores chemical shipments such as liquids and powders in bulk and barrel form.
Checks and maintains equipment by checking oil levels, opening, inspecting, and listening for abnormal noise.
Performs all other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Required:
High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
One year related experience.
Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record (must obtain TX driver’s license within 90 days).
Ability to receive TCEQ Grade “C” surface water certification within two years of hire date.
Preferred:
Functioning knowledge of Pumps and Motors.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to pass a physical ability test for operation of plant equipment. Ability to make mathematical calculations. Knowledge of mechanical and electrical motor skills and basic chemistry. Ability to get along appropriately with co-workers and the public.
