REQUIREMENTS: Current Registered Nurse licensure in the State of Oregon High school graduate, or equivalent (copy of academic degree or transcript will be required upon hire if performing Moderate Complexity Testing) At least 2 years experience (in the past 4 years) in acute hospital critical care setting. At least 1 year experience in a cardiac catheterization lab preferred Knowledge and experience related to nurse's role in cardiovascular procedures At least 1 year of current experience performing RN role with patients undergoing moderate sedation American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required upon date of hire American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) required upon date of hire Performs pre-, intra-, and post- catheterization patient care including administration of moderate sedation, providing airway management, and assessing hemodynamic parameters for various diagnostic and interventional cardiovascular procedures Carries out established techniques for safe administration of contrast solutions Directs and assists in maintenance and handling of special equipment, monitors and instruments Cleans procedure rooms before and between cases Maintains and continues to improve technical and professional skill levels; regularly attending continuing education meetings/seminars and reviewing current literature/journals pertaining to cardiovascular nursing Proficient in interpreting EKG and hemodynamic pressure tracings Demonstrates above average technical skills and knowledge Observes radiation protection safety standards Must be willing to take call nights, weekends, and holidays on a rotating basis; must be within 20 minute travel time to hospital Able to read, write legibly, and converse effectively in the English language Exhibits critical thinking and problem-solving skills Flexible, able to prioritize and adapt to rapidly-changing patient and unit needs Demonstrates effective teaching skills Responds effectively to patient crisis/emergency situations POSITION SUMMARY Within the RN scope of practice as defined by the Oregon State Board of Nursing, applies the nursing process to the care of patients. Teaches patients and significant others. Documents patient care in the medical record.
