Senior Mainframe Engineer (MQ)

What does a successful Senior Mainframe Engineer (MQ) do at Fiserv?

The primary purpose of the Senior Mainframe Engineer (MQ) is to provide senior-level MQ for z/OS technical support (installation, implementation, administration, and maintenance) for all Fiserv IBM mainframe-based solutions supporting Fiserv’s Issuing, Acquiring, and Payments clients globally. This support includes working and supporting internal and external clients using IBM’s MQ solutions and work with other mainframe-based technical teams in a high availability and global environment.

What you will do:

• Collaborate with Development, Operations, and other technical teams on new and existing MQ project implementations.

• Maintain IBM MQ system options for optimum performance and availability.

• Assist with the development and maintenance of MQ standards and procedures.

• Provide global on-call support on a rotational basis.

• Supporting and participating in Disaster Recovery exercises for all global data center locations.

• Collaborate with computer operations to quickly resolve incidents and automate operational processes such as IPLs, Queue Manager recycles, and dump processing.

• Ensuring High Availability and performance objectives, as required by customers and management are maintained for operating systems and for software components.

• Administration using IBM and Independent software vendor products.

What you will need to have:

• 10+ years of experience supporting MQ in large IBM z/OS Mainframe environment.

• 10+ years of experience with mainframe software installation, maintenance and support.

• 7+ years of experience setting up, implementing and troubleshooting clusters and queue sharing groups.

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education, military, and work experience.

What would be great to have:

• Working knowledge of IBM REXX.

• Experience with Advanced Message Security (AMS) and SSL encryption certificates.

• Experience with Vision Plus or IBM WAS is desirable.
